One more piece of trim to go back on, plus the back bumper, and cosmetic stuff is just about done. Time to turn my efforts on the mechanical end of things and get her running. Detroit's getting awfully friggin close!!!
I got the rims n tires on but no pictures yet. I think it looks cool. Will post better pics when I can get a chance.

Thanks John...I ordered a bushing that should be in tomorrow. Go figure! I had the trans checked over and its as good as you said it was. Nice to have trusted a stranger and have things work out well. Much thanks.
Sorry I missed you at the ELTA Fall Mixer...I over indulged the night before...I did see that wicked Studebaker of yours in some pictures though. Hopefully we'll cross paths in Detroit.
Chris

I guess you haven't been able to road test it?

Fired it up today for the first time. Boy that 348 runs nice!! But I spent the rest of the day fighting with the clutch. Had trans in and out 3 times. It won. Back to it tomorrow night.

The pressure plate and flywheel came out of a truck (year and config unknown). Its a 3-finger clutch and is so hard to depress I keep bending the fork linkage. We (myself, Scot and Shawn) had some alignment and geometry issues that we tried to work out, but it took all day and the clutch won...so far. Basically, I can't get the clutch to release.
My business partner went through the very same scenario with his 62 Impala 409 car. He suggested to stop fighting it and toss the 3-finger style pressure plate and get a diaphragm style...problem solved.
I've got one more thing to try, then I'm yanking the whole mess back out and changing the clutch.
How many sleeps till Detroit???? Not enough from here...! Gonna be a few more late nights I think.

If your clutch is binding, check the bell housing hole where the transmission fits into. A truck bell housing has a larger hole than a T5 transmission and is will cause misalignment of the transmission. The throwout bearing collar needs to be a snug fit into the bell housing in order to index the crankshaft centre line to the transmission centre line.

Thanks for the tip...I'll check it out.

That 3-finger frigger was too strong. I put a diaphragm-style in and-BINGO- that's all it was! Big job for a little guy...rolling around on my back trying to line stuff up and get bolts in. Got her though.
A little fuel leak to fix yet, a quick spit-shine then off to get exhaust put on.
Sorry...no pics tonight...too friggin tired.
