Too big of an event for me, & too expensive for just going on the Sunday. $30 bucks covers the wknd. but for just the Sun, TOO MUCH It's in Oshawa. Think you have to have a "high dollar" vehicle if your into winning anything!!! Door prize's are good from what I'm told but better have your ownership & registration to match up everthing, 1 slip up & your out of the prize!!! ie, your name on show card but car in wife's name!!!!

Might go. Been going almost every year so far. I'm finding two days of it too much though. As for the door prizes, I've expected to win the crate engine every single year I go ... gets depressing when something you count on doesn't ever actually happen :)
Honestly though ... wife says she ok with it but I just am not fired up about it yet. We'll see.

I agree it's over priced, but it's a Canadian show. Would you expect any less in this Country? At least we get a T-shirt out of it!!
Ha !! I just looked at the Autofest website, and they have my car picture on the front page from a couple years ago. Cool !! Too bad I sold that trailer.
Well I see it's $40 now after Aug. the 1st!!! You would think they would have a 1 day price for the people that "Can't attend whole wknd. or only want to do Sun" Guess the Scottish side of my family is coming "OOT" here, but that's "out to lunch"!!!!!!

Yeah, ya got me thinking now !! I just got back from Syracuse, which is an amazing show. 7500+ cars, tractor pulls, nostalgia drags, tons of vendors, Daisy Duke was there, Ron Shneider too, Gene Winfield, they gave away a car,Fireworks , burnout contests, trams, free lunch and separate car show at Oneida Lake, and tons of other stuff I can't even remember. The admission fee for the whole weekend was $40 !!
Autofest is also $40, and I get, well, I don't really know what I get !! Oh ya, a T-shirt.
Gee the Scottish is coming out of me too, and I'm not even Scottish !!
I'm of very scottish heritage and have always suffered from short arms deep pockets syndrome. its a canadian show i wouldn't try to compete with the american for size considering their population. even the atlantic nationals had just over 2000.
considering all the proceeds go to charity, access to park the old beater downtown for a street party, 2 days at the waterfront and ya get a t-shirt and a souvenir mug, i'm good!! i've already registered i think my t-shirt for syracuse was around 20.

It'll be a last minute decision for me ... not "feeling" it just yet.
I got to put an Anaconda around my neck last year at the reptile exzibit, that was cool ... just found last year show to be one day too many. Be cool if they had some other things going on like a charity poker tourny for example. Guess it all costs money to put this stuff on but the show in the States that was mentioned sure seemed to have plenty of things to do during the day at the event.

Well, I went and registered today (Friday) and decided to venture to the 4 corners in Downtown Oshawa. What a joke !! A bunch of old cars ( me included) could only circle the area because there was no more room to park. Are you fking kidding me ?? What kind of car club would have the nerve to charge huge bucks for a mediocre show, and not have enough parking spots for the paying participants?? Typical half-assed Canadian venue !! We will always be sucking the hind tit to the Americans when it comes to putting on a show of any kind.
Just read else where that they [the club] threatened to throw a fellow out if he didn't remove the "fur sail" sign from his car!! Said he drove over 2 1/2 hrs to get there, paid his $40& no mention of no signs in vehicle either "verbal or written"to try & sell the vehical!!! PI$$ED off & left 1st. & last time to that one !!!!!!!! $40 bucks for 3hrs pretty expensive???

Let me understand this Hemi43 ... you went for the Friday evening "Downtown Oshawa Kickoff Party" and they wouldn't let you and several others in because they ran out of room? Nice. Not a great way to start off a weekend event.
Not just several, quite a few of us were not allowed to attend. I was told I was going to have to park on some side street. Yeah, right !! I'm gonna leave my car on some side street somewhere in Downtown Oshawa. I'd feel safer if I left it on a side street in the Bronx.
Today (Sunday) at the awards ceremony, I was kinda peeved that they had prize draws only for participants that registered prior to August 1st. Wut up wit dat?? Why would registering after August 1st make me any different?? I, afterall paid more to enter my car than the pre-registered participants, yet I'm not allowed to be included in the draw !! That's just not right!! I don't want to nit-pick, but you would think that this being the 19th year of the Autofest, they would have been a bit more organized. The way the presentations took place today, you would think that this was the first show they ever had!! I was not the only one rolling my eyes in the audience, and to be honest was a bit embarrassing. I hate to compare Autofest with the Syracuse Nationals, but Autofest being almost 1/5 the size of the Syracuse show, I can't believe how amateurish it presents itself. I realize that the members of the Motor City Car Club work very hard to put on this show, and raised an amazing amount of money for the Grandview kids, but IMHO they should hire a professional firm for future events to put their show on for them. Also, why can't we get more vendors ?? When I go to large car events, one of my favorite things to do is browse through all the vendors. They are basically non-existant at the Autofest show. It was still an enjoyable weekend, but I wish there was more things to see and do during the weekend.
I did however feel very safe with the HUGE amount of police presence in the park, both on foot and patrolling in cars all weekend, because as we all know us car folk can get very violent !!

I was actually standing beside this fellow when the club member came over to ask for removal of the sign. I’m gonna side with the fellow who had the car for sale. They both have valid points and both ramped it up quickly. The club member said no for sale sign outside the car this is a car show. The fellow said nothing posted in attached paper work about this (I also check the website nothing there either) and he had come to sell the car. I stayed out of it. I’ve been to previous shows and have heard the announcements and knew about the no for sale signs outside the vehicle all right to put one on the seat policy.
$40 bucks for 3hrs is pretty expensive if you’re trying to sell a car. I can’t blame the fellow for trying he’s going to get excellent exposure at this venue its just to bad it’s a car show and not a used car lot.
I’ve looked forward to this weekend all year and I wasn’t disappointed except for the lack of vendors.
I have in my hand a application for the megaspeed show in the spring, they had flyers on a gmc truck even if it was dressed as a chevy (sore point with me). $45 for 3 days if you want to put in your car and none of it goes to charity.

I had a great time spending Saturday and Sunday there. I guess this fellow had not been to the show before as this has been the rule for years and I agree with rule. My previous car club had same rules for thier shows as well. Not a car lot. Put it on Kijijij. As for Friday, what I had heard is this is all the space the city of Oshawa would hand out to the organizers. Nothing the organizers could do about it in my opinion. Demand was greater than expected.

There where only a few draws for pre-registered cars before Aug. 1st. These rules have always been there. The Friday street thing was not for preregistered as I was asked if I was going to attend when I registered on the 24th and declined to take the window pass due to previous arrangments.
