Those converters are nothing special. They are remanufactured factory pieces that they mix and match stators and housings to achieve different stalls.Keep in mind that Allstar does not make them, just market them with their name on it.
At your power level they would be fine. I ran a similar converter behind a 400hp smallblock and it worked fine. If you are going to race this thing alot, or spray nitrous to the motor, or make big power (450+), then I would say hold out for a better converter.
I've used custom ordered Edge and Yank converters in a couple of builds and they are night and day improvement over a generic or even big brand name street converters.

For a mild street setup, those converters are fine.
For serious power or racing - buy a custom converter. For mopars - dynamic is the only way to go. For GM - Yank or Coan are the ones I have used with success. For ford - someone else will have to chime in. I have only use a PTC convert for ford - it worked good.
A good custom built 3500 stall converter was worth 8 tenths in the quarter over a generic 3500 stall for me in one car.

That was from a TCI Super Streetfighter (rated at 3400-3800 stall) behind a nasty 340 in a a dart. Stalled right at 3500 and ran 12.30's with a best of 12.27 in the quarter. IIRC it is a 10" converter.
Had Dynamic build me a 3500 stall 10" converter, and ran 11.50's with a best of 11.38 on a really good air day. On a small nitrous hit it was a 10.80 car and street driven with no problem with either converter.
I put above who I use for converters, and there is only one guy I use for transmissions - Ron at Performance with a Twist.
