I was going through some of my old pictures and thought you might enjoy these.
I picked up an old NC mill from E-bay for $1200 with plans to convert it to CNC. I'm a Tool Maker, but never had the chance to learn CNC or CAD/CAM design. I figured the perfect way to learn was to build one. I was able to sell all the old electronics for $500, so I only had $700 in the mill before conversion. It now runs off of a Pentium PC, and Mach3.
This is what it looked like when I bought it. The original computer electronics and variable drive controls were huge.
It was in great shape mechanically, so it was a quick rebuild and repaint.
Made a box for the mouse and keyboard and converted the monitor to touch screen.
