Anyone know of a local source for a roll of 1/4" stainless steel brake line at a decent price? I got a price of $109.00 from my parts supplier.

Summit sells it for about 40 bucks.

I hate getting bent over up here in Canada. Feels like I dropped the soap again........no

the best stuff i know of other than stainless is a nickel copper line which is really easy to bend and never rusts, its aroun 3 dollars a foot for 3/16

I found stainless lines very hard to get a good flare. Go for the nickel copper line.

stainless line will cut into the dies if you have a cheap flaring kit

just went on ebay to see what a white man hydraulic flaring set is worth, they kinda spensive, 300 plus.

Thanks Guys.

The only problem with copper/nickel line would be that I can't weld it. I want to use it as a bead around the hood opening on my fenders.

The more I think about it though, the worse the idea seems. I'm afraid the metal underneath the tube will start rusting and bleed out.

This pic shows a piece I mocked up with regular brake line. Maybe with a good coat of epoxy primer it would be OK but I'm sure I will scrape off the epoxy in some places as I slide it on.

I may need to stick with my original plan and weld a solid s/s or cold rolled steel rod on top of the rim.

are you closing the gap with the brake line?  i saw this done like centuries ago in old rod mags i used to read

Sorry, I don't follow.

The rim around the hood opening now is just a strip of 19 ga steel and I will be adding another piece of 19 ga behind it as in the pic below.
