Ya know that T shaped strip on Model T and A's?

Is it steel? And can it be welded OK? I was thinking about removing the bolts that hold it in place, tilting it out a bit to chop the top and then cut the excess off the top, but it's riveted to one side of the quarter panel and it's almost impossible to get the rivets out even though I've knocked the heads off of them.

Never mind - We drilled out the riets today and pulled the T strip back a bit - enough to do the chop and then trim a few inches off the top of the strip rather than try to weld the strip and make it look right. Yeh - T & A and the word strip all the same sentence - musta made a few guys look.

All depended on the year too, many of the earlier center door and sedan bodies had aluminum T molds too...

I know all to well about Model T's.. don't ask,ha,ha.
