Now that the flury, or maybe the 'fury' of the emmissions fiasco has died down a bit, I'll present this information. I came across some info on the various emmission sub systems. Toyota it seems is a bit more 'giving' with info that is needed, and understood by the lay person, they also are big on schooling and testing for the professional mechanics. Not that I'm associated with them, but here's what I have. Google 'Toyota manuals sub emmission systems' and you get a quick rundown on the what and why of the EGR, EVAP, Air injection etc. Armed with some knowledge you can set up a system on your ride that will appease Johnny Law and the McGinty group. If you understand the systems and how they work, you can take steps to incorporate them. On a couple of engines, I had already bought and had the parts on hand, (carbs, intake, headers etc.) and it looked a bit daunting to make it all work with pollution equipment, and it certainly was going to spoil the look I was after by adding the factory systems. But...I picked up on a couple of little nuggets of info that changes the game for me. I'm sure there are others out there in the same boat. This isn't a how to, more like a what if, you are required to think it through. Toyota supplied the info and explanation, now we get to use it. Check it out if you care to.
and/or search Toyota manuals sub emmission systems and it will get the first four links plus a few more. There is a lot there that needs to be searched through that I haven't done yet. A lot more topics than just emmissions. Hope that helps.
Never could get that link stuff to work, but there are the addresses.
