Both vehicles are full of wood so I will be doing the steel tube replacment as I done in my 34 5 window.Any one know who does some soda blasting resonable inexpensive???

Both are nice looking starts for projects, I think you should concentrate on the '33, three window, and sell me that pickup.
Where are you at? It might help with finding a soda blaster in you area.

Cool projects
I know little about blasting, but have heard that soda blasting is very hard to get rid of afterwards...That media or walnut shells etc is much safer

I might be wrong but I think soda blasting is just for paint and body filler removal ... I don't think soda is the right medium/abrasive for removing rust (based on the pics I am guessing rust removal is part of the intended result of blasting).

The rust is not real bad (pitting) more surface and a fair amount of original paint as well.

 I am in mississauga .

Media blasting is probably more the correct terminology today.I just want to get rid of the rust at a resonable cost.

I have owned these vehicles for a long time and it is such a rush to finally get them home and get them started.

truck was purchased as a complete truck, nothing missing. Was originally a manitoba telephone systems truck .Could see the mts under the yellow paint.

The 33 was a hot rod in the 60's in the lindsay/stirling area. I have all the part's to put it together, as it was bought pretty much as is. It also had a rad shell and grille with it.

Well havent been flying along with the truck ,but have got the front sheet metal off.

The frame is really clean ,just surface rust.Picked up a couple of front fenders from out west already.A little more disassembly and will be ready for the media blasting.Still looking for a 700r4 so I can start getting the engine and tranny mount's fabbed.

Also looking for some hydralic brake assemblies from a 40's or 50's chev truck

Nice projects, I'm a fan of that pickup too. As for media blasting the company I work for uses www.Blastal.com and another one I've heard of is www.sodapro.com as far as price I can't say because I havent personally used them only through work.

Dont know who cando blast your area but ,do know it can get expensive.
I use whitelightning non silica, great for 16 guage,no warpage and smooth.Crushed glass comes in fine grit for thinner guages.Spray down with etch acid wash after.Yours should clean up quick.

Well got the body back on the 34 chassis.

welded the new cowl back onto the body and now replacing the rocker panels .There wasn't  much left of the old ones. The one on the floor is from the drivers side.  I found some used one's and have placed it in the drivers side .Still have to remove and clean up the passengers side.

I am going to chop the top once I get the body more secure .Open to suggestions on how much to chop.

1 inch all around ?    3 inches all around ?  3 inches in winshield .1 inch in rear?

rake the windshield or stretch the roof?  or just leave well enough alone?

Next time I take photo's I'll try to remember not to be smoking!!

And no Talon (chevyboy) I am not looking to build a roadster wink

I am a huge fan of the 33-35 chev's I love the coupes with a very mild chop, but the sedans a little lower, I would go 2 1/2 '' to 3 '' max on a 3 window, if you go any lower I think the look out of proportion, because they have such short quarter panels on them

Great pics!! Thanks for those.
I too love the 33-34's , Years back many of those bodies were used up as stock cars in the hobby class, as they called it then.

That would be my sugestion. Take the 2-3 inches you might have chopped it and add it to the channel job. Always thought they looked sharp with a stock roof line.

And no Talon (chevyboy) I am not looking to build a roadster wink

Hmm, wink well now, you might have to call me if you need to make a little room. biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

After all, who wants an old twisted frame and a cut up firewall biggrinbiggrinbiggrinwinkwinkwink

But serriously, It cleaned up real nice and it looks like its comming along great.

You would be talking about dale stevens in kentucky.  He had some rocker panels he was selling on ebay and also the rumble seat lid lid.

I would be real interested in that if it came up for sale.

I have bought a couple of items from you myself off ebay.

Nice job on the firewall cowl area swap, nicely done. !!!!!!!

Your 1933 chevrolet master chassis is 110" wheelbase i think,  and the other chassis your now using is a 1934 chevrolet master series is 112 inch.  From what i have seen you do so far , you should be able to fit the 33 body on the 34 frame .  i think i have a picture somewhere with all the dimensions of the 33 & 34 frames.

 Hey Mike

You are correct about the frame length's,but there are some other subtle difference's.in the width's.mostly where the hood and fenders covers the frame.

I am planning to make this a full fendered car,so I am going to put the car together before I do anymore welding in the sub structure. I am waiting for some rear fenders and tailpan I purchased from out west to be delivered and I will begin fabricating again.

I also have a spare decklid (rumble) .Would sell outright or trade for other 33 34 car or truck parts

Mike I will pm you my # if your interested in  the decklid give me a call would prefer to make this car with  a trunk but dont have hinges joe mac

Spent the afternoon with JOE discussing the merits of chevrolets of the `1933 1934 master series variety and 33--35 chevy trucks.

I have a chevrolet 35 roadster affectionately called SHAZZBOTT, Joe only wants coupes and trucks.

I managed to leave behind a sum of $$$$$$ for a part Joe sold me to complete my roadster sheet metal.

Currently SHAZZBOTT is in hibernation as its completely disassembled , all thats left standing is the stock frame, front axle assy and the rear. All the wood and the panels are removed.

This car originally was originally assembled on the bueno Aries ARGENTINA GM assembly line as a right hand drive roadster.
I am currently re-wooding the cowl section with door posts as its structural and its extremely difficult.

Here is something for your knowledge base. The coupes, sedans, sedan deliverys and all the FISHER BODY BUILT cars, the body is not the same as the OPEN CARS = roadsters and tourings, these were made by chevrolet body works and there is lots of differences in the bodys . Its like they were not part of the same company !!!!!!!!

I will start a seperate thread on it when i get back at it, as this thread is about joes vehicles. Right now lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ flying out of my bank account for sheet metal purchases of parts i need.
