misc pics 106.JPGI like the idea of the third brake light. When I built the '67 years ago I filled the recess in the tailgate with a Lexan panel. I masked off 1x6 section in the center of the graphic and put a LED the brake light behind it.

On my 50 chebby truck I want to mount one that can set right on the curve of the back of the roof . Was it the 58 chev car that had a cool vent scoop on the back of its roof ??. Something like that , but lit up ..77.

58 Chev. & Pontiac had the "fake" vent on roof!! It never lit up though unless the owner did a modification to make it do so!!! Pete

I am going to mount a third original model a tail light below the rear window of my pickup with a magnetic bracket so I dont have to cut any sheetmetal.

On the '34 coupe I sold last fall, I used a licence plate light from a '52 Chvy parts car I had. I made a mold out of some cat hair bondo and sprayed the original lens with Pam cooking spray, then pushed it into the bondo. When the bondo was hard, I drilled a hole in the bottom of the mold to attach a vacuum (which I didn't really need to do) and then placed a small piece of red plexiglass over the mold and heated it with a heat gun. The plastic dropped right into the mold and made a perfect red lens to replace the clear glass one.

I'm not a big fan of third brake lights because of the look but I do agree they make it a lot easier to be seen. This one kinda solved my problem by looking old and being very bright. There's a lot of cool looking licence plate lights on older cars.

I have a 3rd brakelight on my heap (cut a hole and installed the lens from a little Dodge car then mounted the double bulbs from a Tempo behind the lens just below the rear window on a mid-thirties coupe) and I still almost got rearended today. I made a right (on a red) at a set of lights into the curb lane of a two-lanes-each-way road (Taunton) ... third light doesn't help when the moron (behind and in the other lane) decides to swap lanes in the middle of the intersection. Either two things happened ... the clownwasn't paying attention or they aren't aware of the laws in this country :)

They would have hit me from behind making it clearly their fault, but I enjoy driving my car, not looking at a crumpled mess in the garage wishing I could be driving my car. Maybe I should paint the whole car "fishing lure orange" ... maybe they'd see me then.

When I wired the car, the E-Z kit had a 3rd. brake light wire, which just came in "handy" & it also has a L E D lic. light which I hooked up as well as the org.one on 12V. I got this frame 7 light unit in the swap meet at the West Virginis Doo Wop show!!! Brand new!! Guy had 3 or 4 of them $ 30 ea. Must be available "somewhere" ??? pete

Yep, most harnesses have a wire (usually orange) for the 3rd brake light now but if you don't have it available you need to connect to the wire that comes off your brake light switch before it goes to the turn signal switch. Connecting to either brake light will make it flash with the turn signal. You could also tie it to both signals and install diodes to stop the left turn from affecting the right and vice-versa.
