1972 Indian Series
The 1972 Winnebago Indian-Series included two models: the 22-foot D-22 and the 24-foot D-24. Both models included a Dodge V-8, 413-cubic-inch engine that produced 265 horsepower. Other standard features included three-speed automatic transmission, a positive crankcase ventilation system, dual 70-amp batteries, power steering and power brakes. The interior could sleep up to eight people and offered a fully equipped galley with a 6-cubic-foot refrigerator,

I am cleaning out the shop and selling the 413 and 727 I pulled out of a 1972 Winnibago.  It ran great and had low miles - 36,000.  Complete except for carb and water pump.   Located in Alliston, ontario.

$400

are you sure its a 413? Odd engine for a motorome considering they quit building 413 engines in 1964 (unless Chrysler continued to sell them as industrial engines)

must be my guess that they are an industrial engine - the horsepower ratings are less than in 64. I suspect the torque ratings are substantially higher.

They are all forged cranks, and have a speciall heavy duty block - it can be bored waaaay over due to really thick cylinder walls because it was cast with 440 water jacket cores. There are true stellite valve seats, sodium filled valves, and it has the special "motor home" heads with the extra water jackets around the exhaust valve and spark plug. Its also has a its factory square bore intake, and electronic ignition. Basically everything is really heavy duty, but with a dinky little cam and low compression because its 1972. Rated at 265hp, and 447ft-lbs torque. The torque peak is something like 2600rpm. This one would be considered a 413-1 as it has as standard crank, and timing chain.

There were other 413 motors that were industrial motors that got heavier duty with special 8 bolt extended flange cranks, gear driven camshafts, pistons with cast iron ring grooves, etc. They got a numericially higher 'dash' designation with the -3 the heaviest duty. The 413-3 was generally only found in heavy trucks and industrial applications.

Torque beast!

Question is; Do you have a car to go with it??? I'd like to have it, but can imagine the people I'd freak out by putting it into my 87 chevy PU....hmmm

Hmmmm

I feel trouble starting...

Or, I can pick up that 64 valiant and the 413 and make a sleeper

Thanks for the info on the 413 Rick, interesting reading.

Can't remember now who,, but back in the early/mid 60's there was a couple of tough super stock cars running 413's,, maybe with the cross ram 2-4's.

In 62' the 413 Max Wedge was the motor to beat at the drag strip. It had a 2-4 brl cross ram, 12.5:1 compression, special heads, and a radical solid lifter cam. They bored it out to 426ci for 63' so the 413 Max wedge was a one year only motor.

Throw some lucas crap into that motor and come and get the 413! I just bought a 57' dodge pickup and am getting bad ideas about mating the two!

A couple of people have shown interest but noone has pulled the trigger. Considering how long it took to sell my standard bore 454 4 bolt block, I don't think anything is really selling unless you are giving it away.

What, the 68 coronet? That car will break in half wiching it onto a flatbed. At least the scrap rates are going up in November cause that's where it belongs....no saving that mess!!

I'd like to buy this http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1944-Dodge-truck-Cab-and-Chassis-W0QQAdIdZ421517369

and throw the 413 into it...put a flat deck on the back and my big Lincoln SA200 welder on it...

anyone looking for some estate fencing??

If it doesn't sell, I will probably throw it into the 57' Dodge pickup I bought. I was going to put in the 440 I have, but I will probably just rebuild it for my Dart.

You would need a 62-65' 727.  Get the 65 as its the only one that uses a driveshaft slip yoke.  Change the pump to the 71' and later, and add the part throttle kickdown to the valve body.  This trans is a 727 loadflite that should have all the heavy duty parts in it like a hemi trans - 4 pinion planetaries, 5 clutch drum, etc.

Just because I have lots of SBC turbo stuff I want to play with, and am selling my 55' chevy.

gearhead if you want that motor come and get it. just give me the 650.00 bucks i paid for it and a little for my fuel and come and get it.  LOL  LOL

joking aside, if you want it come and get it. pay me what i paid for it plus something for my fuel and its yours. i got it just to have one around me and it was a reasonable price. i bartered my last one for a body and paint job on my galaxie with a 67 belevedre. i have a couple more 440's but don't know their condition.  i have no plans for it today or tomorrow.  maybe we can barter something, what have ya?     its here.

here's a pic of the belevedre that got the last one.

Awesome Shag, that's awfully decent of ya - I certainly don't begrudge someone from acting on a deal when it comes up. I know the saying is; "you snooze, you lose" totally fair game and if I miss out on something its all part of it - I had no hard feelings.
I was actually in the midst of trying to secure a little A body that I was hoping to stuff the 413 into (just to be different), but every turn of the way has been one thing after another. I'm hoping to get a day off in another week or so to see if I can't make the deal...I will certainly keep you posted.
Cheers
