Posting this for my dad. Looking to sell or trade for classic truck of same value.

1969 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback , 340 with automatic transmission ,headers ( manifolds included) , new gas tank this year, BFGoodrich tires with Crager S/S wheels , bucket seats, black cherry in color with flat black hood and bumpers. Restored in 2003. This car was built to be driven and I have taken it to many car shows and events across the province, it has never let me stranded.

Looking to sell for $22 500 obo or trade for classic truck between late 40's to mid 60's of similar value. The car is currently located at my son's place in Sudbury. Call Ray @ (705) 263-2308 for more details. Pictures available by email for those that are interested or go to http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1969-Plymouth-Barracuda-W0QQAdIdZ420706069 to view.

Nice looking car though I feel your asking price is up closer to where the 340 E body 'Cudas are. I think you will be hard pressed to get what you are asking for, especially for an older restoration, non Formula 340-S or 383 car. I don't mean to be offensive and I'm a big mopar fan...but my feeling is that this is a $15K +/- car realistically speaking.

I posted this for my dad.

I know what you mean ... that's why it's listed with an " Or Best Offer" . I know what he'll let the car go for ... but if the lowest price it would go for would be listed he'd still have guys offering $5000 less than the lowest firm price.

For anyone interested, the body work and paint was done by a guy in North Bay on Lakeshore drive in the Beer Store area (can't remember his name). The restoration was done over the 2003/2004 winter and then my parents moved in 2005 to their cottage between Sudbury and Timmins which is on a gravel road and they have no garage , so the car has stayed at my place since then. The car has only been used a couple times per year and in the past 2 years has only been out less than a dozen times since they've been travelling during the summers with their motorhome ( I take the car for a spin around the block to keep things moving) . My dad will take a classic truck of same value or a "daily driver" classic truck and cash as a trade. He wants an old truck to be able to drive on the gravel roads at their place .

Try your offer ... like I said , I know what he'll take and I know he wants it sold since he doesn't use it. And frankly I'd like to see it sold , so that it frees up space in my garage for me to add my own toys. biggrin

Thanks for linking the photo. This car is slated to be mine when I turn 30 next year unless my old man sells or trades it before then.

I'd have to dig through photo albums, but we could provide before, during and after restoration pictures of the car. The car needed complete restoration when my dad brought it home ... my mom almost killed him and asked why he brought a parts car home before the "good car" .. he said " This is the good car" . The he explained how this car was a project and he'd take 3 years to build it ... 1 1/2 years later , $25 000 later the build was complete ... she almost killed him again ( she must really love him haha). Needless to say, lots of hard work and money has gone into getting this car done ... oh and a lot of patience from an understanding wife.  Someone needs to buy this car ... I love both my parents but dad is already on strike number 2 ... the next blow might be the last if he gets any other ideas about this car. wink

It's right there. The first thing that "they" look for when "they"  ask you to open the hood.

$365 please.

BTW...nice car!

So as I mentioned , if it doesn't sell over the winter it's being torn into. The motor will be torn out and replaced with something larger , it's also going to get a mild tub and we're going racing.

Try your offers.

Thanks for the compliments from those who've given them.

Maybe one day the emission thing will become an issue ... but for now we've had no issues at all. I guess if the government wants to make money, they should hit up some of the big Moper shows ... 3000 cars x $365 = $1 000 000 + .

You guys do know that a 1969 340 came factory stock with an open element air breather and valve cover breather, right?

My 1969 340 Dart has all its factory emissions equipment - a PCV valve. It has been looked over by MOE when they blocked the exits and checked every car in the parking lot when they raided the woodbine/14th car show. No tickets were given.

Don't let the fearmongering scare you from buying a cool car.

I know Mopars !! The 69 Dart with the 340 had an "open" element, but only on the underside. Almost the same design as the Road Runner's and GTX air cleaner.

The oil breather in the valve cover had a rubber tube going from it, to the side of the air cleaner. All cars had this in '69, because it was law.

The reason for this tube is when the engine is under wide open throttle, the blow-by would be placed right beside the air cleaner, so it could be sucked in and re burned . During idle or cruising speeds, air would now be sucked into this tube from the PCV system. This is why the oil breather has filter material in it so that dirt doesn't go in the engine. In later years, the oil breather had no filter material, because the tube outlet/inlet was placed inside the air cleaner housing. It's not fear mongering!! It's just stating the facts that you need that tube going from the oil breather to the air cleaner, or you could face a fine. Why argue?

Here's a picture of what your engine bay SHOULD look like(if you had a big block) !! You do have that tube, right ?

Nice car......even for a Mopar!

I've included my own comment on the MOE issue but wrote it in code so only those interested will read it! Or be subjected to it depending how you look at it.

To add my 2 cents worth, I remember reading that you're not legally allowed to SELL a care without the appropriate emmissions attached and working!

Not really "fearmongering", more of a duty to inform thing. It is such an easy fix that I don't think it would deter any informed person from considering buying the car, nor do I think it devalues it at all. If I were in the market for a new toy I would certainly be going to look at this car if the price was right.

Still for sale. We want this moved out of the garage. If a buyer gives my dad the right price, I'll throw in a 16 foot car trailer that has dual 3500lbs axles. Make an offer ... the worst we can say is 'NO' .

Thanks for the bump 427Carl .

Car is still for sale ... currently in my heated garage , sitting on a set of dolleys so I can wheel it around. If anyone is scared of the price, please make an offer. Not only does my dad want to sell it, I want it out of my garage so I can have room for my own project(s). :)

well i sure agree 100 % that ads should be ads and not become a discussion ........if someone has interest in buying he should pm the seller not make it public

Seams to be a lot of pot sturring going on. The guy just wants to sell his car if people don't want to buy it thats fine don't buy it and move on just like at a real swap meet. Nobody should be telling him what they think about prices or condition in an open forum, thats what the PM are for.I don't think the swap meet section should be open for criticism.I would use it but I don't need the "experts" telling me what I should be charging for the stuff I want to sell.If i want comments for prices or condition ,as some have done ,I to would ask on one of the discussion threds or comment sections but I think the swap meet should be just for listings, but that is just my opinion. Good point Ed..There is a sticky about keeping the ads on topic at the top of the Swap Meet section........I hadnt noticed this thread until now...Guess I better read all the ads and clean them up a bit.

I decided to keep my comments to a minimum and my opinions to myself a short while ago. I agree that its a good idea to keep comments in the swap meet section as questions to the seller only and have removed my former comments. Perhaps everyone else who has assisted in making this thread into a discussion will do the same to clean up this thread so the car has a better chance at selling...
