Thanks for posting that great collection of engines.

Friend of mine has a VERY rare 8HP , made in Hamilton,, "The Magnet".

Amazing the power these engines have with those cast flywheels , running at 3-5-700 RPM!!

Forgot to add:

A number of ignition/starting designs where common on these engines, but the oddest one i seen was by "Fairbanks-Morse".

You turned the flywheel up to compression, then inserted the head of a wooden match into a hole, then backed the flywheel up a bit, and threw it against compression, crushing and igniting the match head, and away she went.

(Providing the match head was dry! Lol)

Or those tractor engines , you put the shot gun shell in hole , put a cover over it an hit it with a hammer to start it ha ha ..77..
