Hey Pete not shure but I think the Ford you are talking about was a model Y.There was one around southern Ontario tha was really well built I think it won a Riddler award back then as well.Love the fact that there are some Scotish rodders cool enough to run with suade paint.Lots of interesting rods here ,just shows the fact that rodding is common everyware, find what is cool to you then chang a few things and make it yours. What was really fun about the picyures is the fact every car in them is new to me,its going to take a while to get thru them all .Thanks Dave these pics are great.Wonder if the Polish guy will post some from his area. Thought I'd dig out some pictures from my local show which we have every year in Ayrshire. These were taken a couple of years ago, but it's the usual suspects every year so the photo's would'nt be any different if it was THIS year, lol.
Cool pics...Funny to see how some cars are right hand drive and some are left.....Would like to see the interiors of some, they used some odd dashes back in the 50s-60s, like a 59 dash in a 62 Pontiac.
That was COOl I was looking in the backgrounds & saw a Vauxall Victor [59ish] also like the Grey Anglia [stock] as most of them get "rodded" along with the "Prefects" & Ford "Pop". ASJ 281 lic plate # Blue Ford??? Looks like a 37 or 38 but UK had one that was similar but smaller than over here, & i can't remember the model name??? Those pictures were great & could have been a show over here, nice variaty of vehicles. Thanks Dave. Pete

Hey Scotish Dave I was wondering is there much buying and selling of rods over there. What I mean is do the cars change owners much or do people hang on to what they have. The rodding comunity is not really very large around here so when cars change hands there tends to be that "wasn't that buddys car"thing for awhile.I don't like buying a custom car from home area for that reason. Are people still digging old iron out of barns over there or do they import. So many different makes from so many different countries must keep things fresh. There's a lot of neglected classics here. We generally have smaller houses with less garden and single garages. Most classics are sitting under tarps in the cold damp of Great Britain, rusting away
It seems that every time a car changes hands, the new owner needs to start a new resto.
But to answer your question, I would say the scene is pretty quiet here. It's cheap enough to buy a project, but the costs for getting things repaired or re-manufactured in the UK is just crazy, and for most it's not affordable in today's economic climate.
Out of 600 members of a car club I ran, only one of them was into classics/rods etc, and that's the owner of the Falcon and the black Ford Cobrajet in the pictures.

Ed, think your right on the Y model. There was one up in Manilla, just north of Port Perry awhile ago, being rodded but it seems to have disappeared??? Looked like one of the North American full size untill you start to "really' take a close look!!!
