Stroker McGurk suggested I post here as I would like some help checking out a trailer for sale in that area...
My 1954 F-100's bed has some issues and I just saw a Kijiji ad (number 424929133) advertising a trailer made out of the bed of an F-100. This could solve my floor / fenders / tailgate issues (maybe even the leaf springs and/or axle could be usable) at a very reasonable price. Could someone check this ad and potentially go take a look at that trailer for me. I'm in the Kingston area and a little far to take the chance that it might be a lot worse than it looks in the pictures. If in decent shape, I could send money to secure it before someone else does (granted no one here beats me to the punch now that I've given you all this information). Thanks!
I'm heading into Welland Tuesday (Dec 4) I called the guy (John) and will meet him Tuesday around 3. I'll let you know, it looks a little rough in the pictures.

It has a license plate on it, so likely is OK to tow. If I was going to get it, I would take a trailer wiring kit with me. You can buy that at CTC or Princess Auto pretty cheap.
From what you are saying about yours, $120 for that sounds like a good deal.
Trailers built from pickup beds wont have a vin. They are considered home built.
BTW...a trailer plate stays with the seller, so you should bring your own
My bed has so many issues, I was thinking this one might be a better starting point than what I have now. I could still use parts of mine if needed, but this one looks a little better and it has a tailgate. My bed doesn't have a tailgate.
Among the issues I have, it looks like the fenders were damaged and the bottom rear section of both fenders were pushed in towards the bed. The fenders were also welded to the bed wall instead of just using the bolts. The crossmembers under the bed don't look correct, I'm not even sure the bed is secured correctly to the frame as the rear stake pockets were extended downwards and welded to the massive rear bumper, which is also welded to the frame. And even if the tailgate is rough and needs a little bit of work, it's still better than no tailgate at all.
My only questions for John would be the following. Is the trailer roadworthy to be pulled at highway speeds? Do the lights work? Does it have a VIN number? If the answer is no to any of these, I could still transport it on another trailer.
All good advice on towing it home BUT if I were you i'd put it on another trailer just to be on the safe side & get it back w/out sitting on the side of the 401!!!!

Motorsportsone : I stopped in today, called ahead to have the guy meet me and he wouldn't answer. I found the address, had a look. In my opinion? it's a P.O.S. Fenders are swiss-cheesed and Bondo'd. Bed walls are not too bad down as far as the bed. Tailgate hinge is rotted through. Looks like waaaay more work that it's worth but that's just my opinion.
Thanks for the help, a lot of stuff looks a lot better in pictures than in person. I'm not going to make that long trip for something that might be just as bad as what I have. I appreciate that you took the time to help out.
