I don't think you would get too far with an entrapment defense.confuse

A few years ago Durham Police had a nice little dark cherry coloured Cavalier. Ground effects package,  lowered, nice wheels and tires, fart can muffler, blacked out windows. Criusing the streets at night.

Word got around pretty quick.

Here is something to watch out for and tell your family.

If I saw this on the street I would automatically think "Taxi".

Another good reason for watching the speed limit.

image.jpg

Just your "average Taxi"  right…….. WRONG !
It's intentionally designed to look like a taxi, no special markings, etc.
Note the red lights, front & rear view mirror area.
The roof sign actually says "Police"
This is the latest in POLICE RADAR CARS…..

Now in use in Guelph, Georgetown, Milton and Orangeville areas.

Soon to come to a city near you!!!

THAT'S ENTRAPMENT Anyone That Gets Nailed By one Of Them SHOULD Take Ticket To Court
I Know I Will. They Do As They Please Because Most Just Pay It . TAKE IT TO COURT.
When It Starts To Cost Them $$$$$$ They WILL Rethink It.

I can't see how you would get away with calling a sign on the roof advertising Police and their phone number entrapment. Face it, you were speeding and got caught, suck it up. But it is nice to know so that we can keep an extra eye pealed. People in the past complained about fog lights on vehicles. I thought they were the best things, you were guaranteed it was not a cop. Now unmarked cars have them as well. Something else that has started around KW is placing an old unmarked car with dark windows in a driveway or parking lot close to the road so that everyone can see it. Some days the is an officer in it with radar and some days there isn't, take your chance.

This is old and outdated information being posted.

Below is the artical in which the information was taken.  Dated 2009

They do not use the Taxi Cop car due to public backlash.

The artical link here: http://miltonsearch.com/2009/05/21/halton-police-cruisers-looked-like-taxis/

Was that a taxi or a police car?

That’s what motorists in parts of Halton Region have been asking for the past year. (2009)

Halton police say that they’ve been putting taxi-style lights atop some unmarked cars to nab speeders and aggressive drivers in Milton and Halton Hills.

But Insp. Bill Ford said the program, although successful, was scuttled three weeks ago (2009) because some folks thought it gave police an unfair advantage.

“The complaint was that we were using a cab light, but my response is that we were using a police light that looks like a cab light,” Ford said. “It didn’t say Halton Taxi on it. It said POLICE 878-5511.” — Inspector Bill Ford
“Our goal here in Halton Region is to reduce the number of deaths caused by aggressive driving and motor vehicle accidents,” Ford said. “It was very effective.

“But we’re not about catching people committing traffic offences at any cost.”

Ford said there was only one complaint from the public about the project, which was suggested by traffic officers who thought the lights would help police vehicles blend in more than unmarked cars alone.

“The complaint was that we were using a cab light, but my response is that we were using a police light that looks like a cab light,” Ford said. “It didn’t say Halton Taxi on it. It said POLICE 878-5511.”

Part of the strategy was that motorists might start slowing down any time they saw a taxi, thinking it might just be a police car, Ford said.

Ford said Halton Region police Chief Gary Crowell initially supported the project, but learned some members of the public didn’t.

“The feeling the chief had from the community was that it wasn’t perceived as being fair,” Ford said.

“It was perceived as being a dirty trick, I suppose.”

In 2006 I was hit head on by a Drunk Driver and was left walking disabled for the rest of my life.

Nothing finished currently. When it is finished, it will conform to all of MTO's regs and will have dual cats, mild tint, emissions legal etc...

My point is that the rules are there for a reason. Those who drive without fenders in the rain or have open engine compartments, super loud exhausts, no windshields, dark tints, blue dots, no mirrors/signals/bumpers etc...anything that is either illegal or in a grey area have no right to complain if they get heat for it...thats the chance you take

I guess one of the reasons I get annoyed with people complaining about cops "doing this" or "doing that" or the "out to get us" standpoint the people have is because they arent out to get us. I contemplated becoming a cop myself once but learned from my uncle (an ex cop, now paramedic) that you deal with the same POS's all the time. Same crack heads, same thieves, same dealers, same wife/child/animal abusers, same lowlife constantly. Your freinds are other cops because "you're out to get everybody". You're scum to the dirtbags and often at the ire of the good citizens because you didnt solve/prevent the crimes against them. You cant win

I say give these guys a break for all the good they do for us. (Goes for all of our service men & women who put their lives in dnager for others)

every body on the planet knows or should know that any cop or fed , theyre biggest weapon is deception .
So your 18 yr old daughter is out driving with a friend , this taxi pulls up behind . She gets scared cause it doesnt look like a police car , and doesnt pull over . They will try to charge her with not stopping AND for using her cell even if it was to 911 . Thats just how they roll .
Here in Barrie on big bay point rd . we are about a 3 mile straight drive to the highway 400 , for toronna commuters . In the mornings the road can have its lil rush hour times . There is a deep valley about lets say 80 ft deep then just past the valley is a cross street . Valley is about 500 ft wide . So what piggy does is in the curb lane in direction west to highway . They park a car in the curb lane an leave it there , on the western side of the valley . So if your coming along you look across the valley an see the bottle neck . Then wait , as commuters start coming , there is lotsa juggling to get down to one lane . And when u pin the throttle to blend into the centre lane . They are right there with the radar . so u hit it up to 20 k over the limit to get into that spot . El ticket time . I drive thru there just after the rush time and have often seen a cop stroll over , get in the parked car and drive it away . Nothing u can do . its the cops theyre right , your wrong . They also set up at the cross street , and get u accelerating after the bottle neck . There is usually one or two fender benders there each week . I know cause I,ve worked in garges in the local area my whole life and the local body shop guys all talk abot that particular radar check .
In town , at the lake shore , cops use lil ricer type cars , and pull up beside the ricer guys who like to hang out at the parks and beaches , and rev engines beep horns even as far as cutting them off . Trying to get them to race or speed in traffic .
My buddies kid , I think he,s 21 , got cut off down there by a riced up lil car last summer near the end of cruise season .
A car he never seen before cuts right in frt of him . slams on brakes . then peels off . a few light later kid see,s the car . Goes over to look at it an its a barrie cop . He took a pic of the cop , his i d and the car . But the cop took his phone an drove offwith it . When his dad went an got the phone back it was erased , no pics , no text , no phone numbers and had no battery in it . Cops , whada ya do ..77.

I have heard of a couple of guys getting pulled over and when the cop noticed the dark window tint, they were told they had 48 hours or something to go get it removed.

Now, whether that is 100% true or not, don't know for sure,, BUT there may be something in the books about how dark a window tint can be.

How that would be determined i have no idea, but ,,, not much surprises me these days.

I got pulled over in North Bay one time. The cop said my bluedots were illegal. I asked why, as I had driven the car about 10 years that way. He said that they cut down on the luminance of the red light. I asked how he would measure that. He said he could haul my car down to the station for some sort of test, but since I was just passing through he wasnt going to bother. Not sure if they have some sort of test for that....or for the darkness of the windows.

As for the taxi thing...wasnt there a case last year where the police were pretending to be homeless windshield washer guys, so they could walk upo to cars to see in them....Was in Halton, I think

Yep, lots of tricks to nab the unsuspecting. I could care less really. I play by the rules so I've got nothing to worry about. If I was to drive a heat score, I'd expect a hassle. So I dont

Try filmstarauto.ca under 'Window tint', has all the various provincial laws and what's allowed. Maybe someone can get the link to work, I never can no matter what I try, or what has been suggested to try. But anyway, it's there.

Jezuz....you made it out of that alive? You are a lucky man to survive that (aside from being disabled from it, which surely is difficult)

There's NO reason for people to drive impaired. NONE. I cant believe people still do it today...idiots

TTC and GO Transit is FREE tonight for anyone that could benefit from it. Awesome idea

Re Tint: Information below taken from York Regional web site here: http://www.yrp.ca/erase/ Once on page click on "Mods" for an interactive view of what you can and can't do as far as vehicle mods.

From the YRP site:

There is no restriction on window tint or colouring on rear windows as long as there are side mirrors providing a clear view to the rear. A driver must have a clear view out of the front windows and the windshield and a police officer must have a clear view in.
HTA 73(1)(a) – Window obstructed / Windshield obstructed - $85.00/$110.00
HTA 73(3) – Colour coating obscuring interior - $85.00/$110.00

Any even slightly modified vehicle in our great country is a flag to any cop . Thats the way it is . Or probably any country .
My racing partner / buddy was killed by a drunk driver 6 yrs ago . Retired cop an retired armed forces , sppent friday saturday and sunday morning drinking with old army buddies on base borden . Was driving home to alcona beach across inisfil beach road and hit my buddies car in drivers door , probably over 80 k no brakes used . The impact killed him , shifted his brain , heart an lungs all outta place . His wife lived . The dude had a full size ford w air bags , lived some minor damage to himself . 4 hrs after the accident , he still blood tested over the allowed amt for alcohol . Its still in court today , the armed forces because he is a retired military officer is helping pay for some of his legal expenses thru his pension . Left a wife an three daughters ..77.

Sorry to hear about your racing bud, but you can't group all cops into one based on that one incident. There's di*kheads in all walks of life. All races, religions, nationalities and professions. Build smart, drive smart and if pulled over - be respectful. They are doing their job
