That grade (0W30) is amazing stuff on real cold mornings.
First heard of it quite a few years ago, when loggers were using it in Skidders etc left in the bush overnight.( I was living Off Grid on the N. Side of Algonquin park, =No block heater!!) I had a 72GMC 1 ton with a 350 4 barrel, and manual choke. When the temp dropped to 0 degrees farenheit, it was a beast to start. Switched over to 0W30, and that thing would spin over like it was 70 degrees out!!
Had no problem right down to -40 F. Being fluid in those cold extremes , always thought it had to get the oil up onto the cylinder walls very quick.
I was told before that a lot of places in S. Ontario, this grade wasn't available, but it sure is common in the north.
