That is the one i sent Harry,, have no idea why it wouldn't open!! Thanks for refinding it.
That truck is taking a brutal abuse,, along with the poor driver, he must have had cramps in his clutch leg muscles!! It appears to be a promotional video for the "FRINK" plow company.
That driver must have been SO glad when that movie was over being filmed!!
Incredible how strong, drifted packed in snow can be.
Wonder in that same location today, how much snow there is now?-But that could have been a blizzard that blew in just at the time they were looking for a movie location to do that promotional. Back in 70? a blizzard in S.Ont. blew in and we were stranded in the country for two days. The road was plugged drifted in solid, but with only 4ft deep, but they opened it with a grader with a "V" plow and a lot of Ramming was required to get through it also.
Great video!! That would be a long day driving that plow... smashing into snow drifts like that he would have been pretty sore I'm sure lol! Very neat to see the old plow trucks!
Actually, relooking at the video again, i think that 12ft depth of snow was actually in a cut through a hill, as i noticed in one shot the fence posts sticking up along the side, where the guy is pushing a big block out of the way. So, that would have certainly drifted that cut in that deep, if it was very windy.
I watched that video TWICE last night. There was something inspirational about that big machine continually ramming and ramming the virgin white snow till he broke throught the other side in a satisfying flurry of flying white powder.
tug hill where that was shot is just south of watertown n-y, approx 15mi. they get lake effect snow like crazy being at the end of lake ontario. we use to go there for some yrs for the 1st snowmobile ride of the yr. had to get there for sun up or by 9-10 am there would be 2-3-400 machines on about 30-35mi of trails with 3-4 bars around the perimiter. by noon-1pm we would be on the trailers finished and stand at an outside rail at the bar and watch the gong show. the trail would be wash-boarded by noon from all the machines and half of them pissed. they would get another ft of snow that night and start all over again. great little movie and thanks for the memory. like someone mentioned above, it was blowin in snow. the open fields and such would only be a ft or 2 deep.
The only problem I had with watching that was after it finished there were more plow & blower movies posted & 2 hr. later I was still finding more!!!!!! Successfull "waste" of time!!
