this was back in the 60s back then they were turned into Fiats, Datsuns and Toyotas. Then they got scrapped and became Hondas Fords and Chevrolets of the rusty 70s and 80s. Now they are cheap Chinese tools at your local hareware store. They live on reincarnate.

When I look at this type of video or demolition derby or old stockcar races and see all the old cars being smashed you always think what a waste .But then you have to think if they all survived none would be rare or collectible. So now when I see old cars on the scrap hauler flatbeds insted of being sad I think insted ,oh well I guess that adds another $10 dollars to the value of mine.Iwas telling this theory to Fatstax and The Boy one day and there reply was ,that would then make the delivery worth $20 if I added $10 gas.I have got to get some new friends .

Thats kool. If they saved all those cars years ago the old car investor hobby wouldnt exist. Everone who wanted an old car could have one and they would be cheap and fun. When I started in the hobby one could buy a vintage driver for $500.00 but thats before the investor craze of the 80s.

Ya when I started you could buy a fun, cool car for $500 but I didn't have $500 then any more than I have $10,000 now .I guess the point is if they were all still here no one would give them a second look.Kinda like collecting hockey cards, nothing past 85 is rare because kids quit using them and they are all still around someware.I remember a lot of the old cars were just crap, they weren't all great,But because they are gone we can remember them any way we want .I find that a lot at the shop ,people come in wanting the vintage friges and stoves that were covered with chrome that there grandma had ,thats the way they remember them.In fact most were very plain with chrome handles and maybe a badge or some trim strips. We remember what we want and collect what is different and thats the fun part to me. Paying rent on a house and life was good.Times change getting paid alot more now but get alot less for your money. Oh well.

That was one HUGE wrecking yard!!

Looks like lots of those cars are victims of road salt, but agreed there still is a LOT of usable sheetmetal there.
Friend was in Florida years back and got to go into a huge recyclers there, the vehichles all went into a huge hopper and were ground into pieces, I suspect a type of hammermill,,then conveyored onto ships heading for Asia.
The machine ground everything, engines, read ends, he said up to the size of 5 ton drivelines.

Great interesting video, thanks for posting this.
