While watching the bonneville video posted on the other thread, I realised I had beaten a lot of the records already
I'm not on to brag, as I nearly got caught, and decided to sell the car I had, plus the other two projects I was tuning before I ended up in Jail, or dead!
My crime: 170mph in this:
This is the engine I was building for the "fast one":
I would absolutely LOVE to build something fast and take it the salt flats. I think I'll make that my new dream, since I'm doing the Canada one this year

105 mph towing my trailer in the avatar for 2 laps around the Nascar track at Poconos !! I passed a few Chevys and loved the look on their faces when they saw the trailer go whizzing past them.

I'm not one for huge speed. I'm all about the green light launch and the neck wrenching Torque. But I have seen 190kph on a certain 4 lane hwy 09 V70R with P Zero pirelli tires I won't do that again

I'm actually with you on that. My 170 was accidental. I had just washed the car and was "blow drying" it before I polished it.
I would also rather get into qualrter mile'ing. Just need to choose the right platform. I have much to learn first.
Pushing the needle past 120 mph on a wide open coutry road (thats as high as the speedo went) in my 66 impala ss 396 in 1974 with m50x15 super charger bias ply tires on the rear rated for a top speed of 60 mph white knuckeled and hanging on for dear life when the rear u-joint let go,I guess I had to much air in the shocks to get the tires to fit, there was a loud bang under my seat and all was quiet except for the sound of the wind going by after I got it stopped I looked under and saw the bellhousing split and tranny sitting away from the engine about 2 inches still get goose bumps at the thought of what could have happened but damn that was fun, never did find any of the driveshaft
Best I did on land was around 220 kph in a 2005 Z06 Corvette but have been faster on water. I water tested a 36 foot Apache cat (pictured) to 138 mph on the river in St. Augustine and a 42 foot Cuv off the Keys to 145 mph in a 4 foot sea. Doesn't seam as fast on water though, no hydro poles to judge the speed but the air time is cool. I was not on this ride but it is the guy I worked for in Miami.

Here is an interesting story about the owner of that boat ... seems he has done quite well for himself in the construction industry (MASSIVE understatement) and owns or has owned cars most of us can only dream about (not talking just exotics here, he also owns and races an original Cobra). For the last two years he showed up at Ferrari day (Mosport) with a Z06 Corvette he claims he bought off eBay. Let me just be very clear here ... ONE of his Ferraris (of which he has several) is worth over $2,000,000.00 (his FXX), and he can truly afford any car in the world yet he shows up two years in a row with the Z06. That right there is proof positive that Z06 is one HELL of a car.

Couple times I brought my old bird up to 145 MPH,, first time rattled me a bit when I hit some washboard,,,the next time was on much better road and with purpose,, showing my tail lights to a guy in a vette who wanted to race
Over 120mph (needle bottomed on pin) in my '68 Buick Wildcat, once a week or so. Tried to get my '71 Duster 340 to 150mph, but once it reached over 130mph the needle would pulse back and forth, the front end got really light on the steering as it was doing a wave, so I let off.
The fastest was an OPP cruiser, a '73 or '74 Plymouth Fury, my boss was taking it for a test drive (I worked at the service station, I was 13 ish), after a tune up, asked me to come along for the ride. As we approached the highway, two fellows we knew just blew across the over pass on the highway, they were racing, a '67 Vette with a 327/300 and a '70 Charger R/T.
The timing couldn't have been better, my boss flicked on the switch for the cherries and took off after them, that cruiser was doing 150mph, only one of them pulled over, it was hilarious when they fellow recognized my boss.
And yes it is scarier when you're not driving.

I can't imagine going near a tun in an old car. Even in my relatively new 74 Valiant Charger, I didn't dare go over 50, lol. It was a bag of $hite mind you.
I was a passenger in a 1966 Malibu SS chasing the motorcycle that cut us off on the 401 at Keel St. at 4:00pm on a Friday during the summer about 30 years back. The cops, in a Starsky & Hutch Torino, eventually pulled us over told us we pulled away at from him at 110 but his radar read 132MPH! The bike got away of course. Myself, I pinned the needle on my Dad's '76 Dodge Monaco Wagon once (120+?) and just like the song "Hot Rod Lincoln"....she was knock'n & rock'n.
Ok, here's mine,, and i have three guys still alive to prove it.
Back many years ago , when we were Dumb as ****, Friend had a 58 Pontiac with a 283 bored to 301, AFB, Cam, stuff like that. Now, on Sunday nights in town things went totally dead, not a car on the streets usually, and the stop lights after midnight switched over to just flashing yellow , as the odd transport had a hill to climb and noise complaints prompted this switch to flashing lights.
About 2:00 AM we were heading home in this car, and the guy driving decided he would set an all time record for the fastest trip through town. (main street was maybe 2 1/2 miles long. We, myself, brother, and the driver, went through that main street with the needle buried, at least 100 MPH. Only one cop standing on a corner with his mouth hanging open, just awestruck watching this green "Blur" fly by in a cloud of dust and papers flying up with the engine screaming!
Never heard a thing about !!!
No wonder car guys get a bad name. Lucky to be alive!!
I needed to pass out fliers to three different cruise nights in three different cities on the same night. Orleans (east Ottawa) Brockville Ont and Cornwall Ont. I made it with a little luck of no cops on the provincial highways I was traveling that night. Ran the 401 at full peddle for over 20 min with the speedo pinned at bouncing 120 mph. Thought I was doing good until I was passed by two Nissan 200zxs like i was standing still. DAMN dont those import guys know speed kills.Oh I was driving an 1980 Dodge 1/2 ton headers were just sending out such a sweet sound.

About 40 years ago.my buddy and I hit 152 in my 71 Satellite, 383, usual stuff cam carb headers, and 2:45 gears!
We were coming down the hill on 400 coming into the Holland Marsh. the car was shaking so much my buddy had to read the speedo!..bias tires, no brains..scary..
Another time..I was coming back from Toronto, in my 75 Cordoba..cruise set at 120 mph, on highway 89.
I sped past a cop sitting in the gas station at the bottom of the hill..I glanced in the rearview, and saw his lights come on,
I KNEW! he had me...so I ran..
I had built up quite a lead, till I had to slow for my turn north.
it was about 1 am in the morning, and I knew the road..when I hit a dip in the road, I cut my lights and slowed down.I made it to my house, and got out of the car, and hid in the garage next door.
He found me..kinda hard.not too!..lol..the Ol Dobe was ticking so loud from cooling down you could hear it from next door.
He sat for a while in the cruiser..then pulled away..I waited..chainsmoking for another 15 minutes before I moved..good thing...he came BACK!..and waited..I was scared spitless..and since THEN??...120 kph is it for me...
Funny how when you are in your late teens or early 20;s you think you are indestructable
it was in 2005 in a 2003 sts caddie. up to peterboro had a chip put in it and coming home between campbellford and springbrook we got at it up to 156mph with gps. it was still pulling but my buddy was having a heart attack. bike; sam hazelwoods crotch rocket ninja of some sort coming up #30 to warkworth. it was north of 240km's. that scared the **** out me because i didn't realize i was doing it through them corners till i looked down. if some body had of pulled out i would of been a grease spot. when sam caught up on my harley i was a wreck and he was laughing his head off. boat; the 23ft switzer i have now will bounce a gps between 72 to 74mph. snow machine; i have been clocked on rice lake at bewdley in the 1/4 at 126mph. not much more than that left after the 1/4. today the escalade with the 412-13hp vortec, i don't know or care. i am relaxed when i get there. lol another one thats a memory was a 5lt 87-88 mustang between belleville to trenton on the 401 coming down the hill before the sidney st exit. at about 130 to 135mph the front end started to rise and float. i had bought it for the wife. boats for sale and one race sled for sale. reasonably priced, honest. lol
About 1973 130 mph in a 1970 Chrysler 300, 440 4bbl. About 1983/84 195 kph in Wife's Malibu Iraqi Taxi 229 v6 & 3 spd stick. 1969 442 115mph on Hwy 2 between London & Lambeth. Hey, Tom Shields, remember that night? 90 mph in open SBC fiberglass T bucket on Hwy 400. That was probably the most THRILLING!
Ahh the good old days.

318kph in a worked C4 vette. Then the owner of the vette said "thats nothin" and got it up to 325!
140ish mph in a 69' Dart, going by tach, wheel diameter and gear ratio. It buried the speedo and was still pulling like crazy until I hit the rev limiter. It was VERY light in the front end and I was VERY lucky that something bad did not happen. Steering wheel inputs did nil after about 110mph...
I had my road race camaro up to 148mph before hitting the rev limiter. With better gearing, I bet it would have done 160 easily.
A whole lot faster than I'd ever admit to in writing! '67 Corvette coupe and the wind was starting to whistle real loud where the doors wrap into the roof. Woke up my wife who started beating on me for being so stupid.

Well, I've gone faster then I have in ol' "Deathtrap" but I gotta say winding out a 170ci from 1964 was an experience. I was coming down some back road from guelph to cambrige one night and decided to bury the (non-existent) pedal. 85 miles an hour was a little much... Felt like when you run down a hill and can't stop. I still don't know whether the brakes were fading or if it was just the leaky master cylinder.
It still had go in it, but I picked a short road and by that point I had already realized I was playing with fire.
115 mph on the back of an xcr 800 polaris sled. my feet came off the running boards and my toes bounced on the ice for a minute.
120mph in freefall out of a plane.
125 mph in my 30 Sedan racing a corvette on a "Private Highway".
118 mph on my sled.
230+ km/h in a Nissan 350Z from Toronto to Milton driving myself to the hospital.
250+ km/h on a motorcycle
848 km/h on a jet going from Ireland back to Canada.
