In 1971, I wonder if anyone would ever think that 42 years later someone would be saying how cool these little cars are?? I would love one of these with a late model drivertrain..

First car that I was "allowed" to drive legally was my Mom's '73 Vega GT Wagon, 4 speed. Still have flashbacks about driving that car at speed.

Boosted ECOTEC , and a custom chassis would be a nice package.

My first project car was a '73 Vega hatch.  Full tube frame, 10" stretch, small block. Sold it before finishing it. But I know where it is. Hmmm!!!!!

 

The kid turns 24 next month.

The only Vega wagon I ever owned was COX .049 powered. Wish I still had it !! These things ran on a string and were super fast. This thread reminded me of it !!

Was it ever finished?



 

 Yes. Last time I saw it it was on the road, metalic blue, sporting a 454. It has changed hands a couple of times since then, and has not been on the road for a while. My last contact with the guy that has it was about 6 years ago while oogling his nice Cosworth Vega.

 This one ended up being written of in the back parking lot off the shop when the throttle stuck........got rebuilt as a 38 Chev....Dave I Know who and where your old Vega is.......no longer set up as a street car, supposed to hit the track this summer....BBC,Nitorus,the front half of chassis was replaced..He`s done a ton of work to it since.......There was also a red Vega pannel Tubbed with a BBC,Tunnel Ram ,Nitrous and had the poor mans Lenco ( Hurst lighting Rods Shifter) that was around the GTA back from 89- 96 it had " Bounty Hunter" both sides in goldleaf.....

Yeah, I know he shortened it back up to stock wheelbase, and said he was going to put a strut front suspension on it. Good to here he's going to put it to use finally.
