This may sound like a dumb question, but what would you recommend to be an ideal diameter and height for a stump? I have quite a few to choose from. Also, could/should I carve a subtle concave in one end? It would be easy enough to do in no time flat using a chainsaw.
I'd say about 30" high.
The best diameter is an odd shaped one that would allow about a 6" diameter concave plus a straight approx 3'' diameter hole for stretching right beside that. A split right at the edge going inwards is also good for stretching on.

You have any pics of what a good stump looks like? I mean with the shapes cut in it, not just a stump...lol

Not now, I'm on vacation using my laptop. No pics stored in it.
So I'll bring a '38 Dodge pickup front fender with the spare tire well. It needs a bit of persuading. The only tools I have for this is a dolly and hammer.
That's great. More "real" projects.
If you or anyone else has folding shop stands, they would be handy to have.
I have only 2 of them.

I have a couple cheap standard Mastercraft one's, with rollers on one side., will gladly throw them in the truck.

I can't seem to post a link any more. Don't know what's going on with that.
At this point, you may have to pound on steel in the back alley the way its going, but I'm sure you won't mind. Or maybe we can squeeze you under the big top somewhere.
Reply back with a couple first names for me and I'll get you down.
Unfortunately I have to back out. I was really looking forward to learning something new and meeting some of the guys from here. Got last minute word that I'll be working both Saturday and Sunday!! I'm pissed but numerous bill collectors are thrilled....

I'll be there Saturday, the wife would kill me if i was away for both days, but im sure i can learn lots in a day!
John
Sorry, but it's a booze free meet.
We're good for lunch and drinks I believe. Snacks are always welcome and if you wanted to drop something in the hat, it won't be refused.
But, we do need to have a serious talk. You'll have to drop off your Man Card at the door if your wife is gonna kill you for going to a 2 day meet that only comes once a year. GET THE PANTS BACK ON, MAN! Ha....hhaaaaa......
I almost backed out, I tweaked my lower back yesterday, I'm a little stiff and sore, it'll limit what I can do, but I sure can drive there for Saturday. I'm looking at 1 1/2hr drive there, under good 401 conditions. It'll be a one day only for me also.
And let us know if we can contribute something, water, pop, hot dog buns, wieners, condiments etc...
Looks like it will be Sunday for Fatstax and I ,looking forward to learning something and putting some faces to names. Thanks for the oppertunity Pugsy. Ed

That's great. Sunday is usually a bit slower but the crowd should still be pretty good.
