Think the sample is more for running an event than as a participant, years ago I carried a personal liabilty policy for 2M that you can get from almost any insurance company
i know when i was working i was told that my insurance from the job would not pay if i get hurt in any motor vehicle accident ........so i played a lot in demolition derby and some racing and it was all gambling ..........my life insurance that i had beside for me would have paid if i get kill from an accident i was told but they never actually gave me a sure answer there was lot of if and but s in the answers.............professional racers who do it for living like nascar driver can get life insurance but apparently real expensive to get coverage
a friend of mine who is a contractor has insurance like that, bungee jumping, cliff diving, competitive hot dog eating, if hes injured hes covered. i didnt believe him until he showed me his policy.
I have an old policy that I've kept up that does cover me in such an accident. I states that I have to be the driver or operator of the accident vehicle, the glitch is I have to die. Just getting hurt don't count. Got it years ago when I raced stock cars and kept it when I was flying. Combined Life is who it's with, so as long as I keep paying it, they have to honor it. They dropped this one a number of years ago from the policies they offer. Don't know if they ever replaced it with something similar or not. It don't payout real big, but it should get me buried!!
Re: Stock Cars, Sniper where and what did you race???
The last year raced was 1977 at Delaware (paved) just outside of London Ontario as our home track. Also Windsor Speedway (paved) and Ridgetown Speedway (clay, and rough). The car was built to the then new Street Stock class at Delaware. Delaware is still going, Windsor is long gone, Ridgetown track is still there, but has been closed for years. I stopped in to take a look last summer, No Trespassing signs all over so I only got a look from from the road. Still looked like it was all there for the most part. Had a lot of fun there but man was it rough, both the track surface and the driving. Always came home with some door doughnuts and rash of some sort to fix up. Left that and got into flying...a lot less to fix up every week!
always like looking pics of vintage stock cars use to be one local guy over here racing a 64 mustang .........i use to see the car in his back yard for lot of years even after he quit racing ..........we had a local guy who put in a 69 roadrunner on the track cause his stock car was broke ....... in the 1970 season ......he figure he was just going to play it safe stay at the back and the guy s wouldn t touch...........lolllllll.the week end after he was back with roll bars and everything else ...............including all the dents from the previous week
Thanks sniper very interesting, haven't been to Delaware in many years , but at one time was there every night, then also Nilestown , and Flamborough. (Watched at lot of "Super Modifieds there.) Jack Sharp in "Lobo One" was one .
If you google "Ghost Tracks of Ontario" information there on all the old tracks.
