This might be a crazy question but do any of you guys that are racing carry any kind of special life or liability insurance?

If so, where can I inquire about it.

Just thought I should get some life insurance, so the better half will be happy...biggrin not that I'm planning to have anything happen...confuse

Think the sample is more for running an event than as a participant, years ago I carried a personal liabilty policy for 2M that you can get from almost any insurance company

you can get liability insurance - but nothing for you personally while in your race vehicle.

There is no kinda insurance for the vehicle either while in competition.

As truckpullers  - we are insured against us hitting or damaging something or someone, but thats it

I have an old policy that I've kept up that does cover me in such an accident. I states that I have to be the driver or operator of the accident vehicle, the glitch is I have to die. Just getting hurt don't count. Got it years ago when I raced stock cars and kept it when I was flying. Combined Life is who it's with, so as long as I keep paying it, they have to honor it. They dropped this one a number of years ago from the policies they offer. Don't know if they ever replaced it with something similar or not. It don't payout real big, but it should get me buried!!

If you become a member of IHRA or NHRA there is insurance coverage as a part of membership.

The last year raced was 1977 at Delaware (paved) just outside of London Ontario as our home track. Also Windsor Speedway (paved) and Ridgetown Speedway (clay, and rough). The car was built to the then new Street Stock class at Delaware. Delaware is still going, Windsor is long gone, Ridgetown track is still there, but has been closed for years. I stopped in to take a look last summer, No Trespassing signs all over so I only got a look from from the road. Still looked like it was all there for the most part. Had a lot of fun there but man was it rough, both the track surface and the driving. Always came home with some door doughnuts and rash of some sort to fix up. Left that and got into flying...a lot less to fix up every week!

Thanks sniper very interesting, haven't been to Delaware in many years , but at one time was there every night, then also Nilestown , and Flamborough. (Watched at lot of "Super Modifieds there.) Jack Sharp in "Lobo One" was one .

If you google "Ghost Tracks of Ontario" information there on all the old tracks.
