started 3 years ago.southern car.tore it down every piece never labelled nuthin!!!

decided to go all out.sorry no before pics

built a rotissery and sandblasted entire car

after primer

after couple hours of 400 grit block sanding 2k primer....

then paint

started stripping body

on to the chassis stuff,it too was all blasted ,epoxied,2k hihj biuld and block sanded,every part.even the brake drums and rotors.




even the trunk got sandblasted and sanded

car will be ready for paint soon,will post more pics,tranny,4 speed of course!!should be back soon from shop.engine going out soon.all body work is done now except final 600 grit sanding,
i made all new lines even used protective springs too look factory

engine is urethane paint.

Now where is that thread on using southern bodies? That's in amazing shape.

Was there ant rot in it anywhere? Any metal need replacing?

Those things were terrible for rust.  I saw '80 Camaro's in '85 with holes on the floor and rotten rear rails.

billy idol??no try metallica!!!no metal yet on any body panel needed replacing,actually wasnt any rust to even grind down.lots of small bruises on doors and fenders to fix.i did replace part of drivers floor pan from pinholes,but it was buttwelded in properly.trunk floor had some pinholes that i welded up as well.ive never done bodywork ever before this i guess midlife crisis.thats supposed to be chevy blue just looks glossy i guess paint was fresh.next week im hopefully going to jamb doors and body parts and assemble.

its like 1/1 scale modelling, in fact it will be so clean i wouldnt drive it, park it in the living room as a conversation piece

                  Orange   I love orange   It was a big block wheelstander and ran 9's

floors are urethane single stage semi gloss,from eastwoods,the ceramic stuff.

as a young lad i could do that, "never labelled nuthin!!!" today i pretty much label the air breather and gas cap, just in case. lol
i've been doing a major clean up and re-organization around here from years of being a pack rat, "i might need that some day". man i wish i had of labeled most of this **** 10yrs ago. i know its a set of brake rotors, for what. lol so i went and ordered a box of tags with wire and don't remember where i put them. lol

anyway, back to the build. its looking real good. it saves a ton of money and labor starting with a good platform, southern. keep up the work and keep us posted.
