Camping Is hugely popular at the Nationals....it's something you need to book months in advance to be safe on the safe side. With over 7,500 cars attending, every inch of space is needed on the fairgrounds!
There may be hotel availability, but I would search now....don't wait!!
Good luck!
Ya, I know Brian, I'm usually booked way in advance, but this year I left it up to my friend, since he has the motorhome. He told me he had it booked already, but he didn't.
I may have lucked out though, I know someone who is booked and paid, and it looks like he won't be able to make it. That would be great for me, sucks for him, LOL.
Drove past there today. Place was packed with RV's! Like I mean sardine packed bumper to bumper packed!!! Not quite sure what was happening on the west end. Looked like a parking lot full of new cars?? Grass field beside I-690 has a few generators set up.

One of the problems with the camping is people come in Sunday and drop off their campers and leave them. We always get there on Wed and it is getting harder to get even two spaced side by each. I got a service spot but Kevin only booked last week and has dry docking, we will see what happens when we get there. Hope to hell we don't have to leave at 6AM to get a spot on Wed!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Ya, I forgot to mention, we're locked in also, got a camping spot at the fairgrounds against the odds. Dayum I'm lucky, I always seem to find a way, I really didn't want to book a Motel, it's just not the same.
GPS coordinates locked in for Sat. 1pm, I should be kinda mobile by then.
That's why I stated I didn't draw the "bad" areas !! I would have chosen a different colour because I knew the flak guns would have been all over me !!
Hopefully the weather cooperates for the drive down. I'm planning on going Wednesday, but if the weather is crap I'll go a day earlier. I would just need more beer, but it's cheap down there.

About 1 week to go for the Syracuse Nationals. There's a lot of members here that will be going for the first time, so I thought I would post this general map of the area, and some of the areas of Syracuse to keep away from. The areas circled in brown are not the areas you want to get lost in especially at night. I map was not made by me, but by locals familiar with the area so it must be somewhat accurate. I did however circle the area that the Nationals will be held in green. I've never had any issues in Syracuse, but then again I try to be aware of my surroundings. Have a safe trip !!
Thanks for the heads up Hemi43, it will be my first time in Syracuse and I just checked out where my hotel is. I am staying at the Hampton Inn and it looks like we have to pass right through the brown areas to get there. Hopefully we will have no problems.

LOL, I'll keep that in mind...stay away from the "brown area".
Syracuse is great, I'll be there Wednesday before noon, till Sunday noon.
Be sure to get to the picnic/bbq held at the park, about 15 mins drive away from the Fairgrounds. I've been every year so far, it's a cool cruise.
We will be set up in the camping area and turn on the A/C. Again all are welcome to drop in and partake of some comfort even if we are not around. Knock on the door as Bernice may be inside enjoying the comforts of home. Our trailer will be parked next to Kevin's motorhome. We park(space providing) with the back facing the grandstand and put a CDN flag on the 5th wheel hitch. Too far away for the weatherman/ person to be accurate, however expect SUNNNN, darkness, rain, bla bla bla.We eat at Texas Roadhouse on Erie Blvd.
I am headed down on Thursday, going to make a family vacation of it this year. I hope the weather is good, I don't really feel like driving in the rain with my truck.
Anyone else headed down on Thurs going over the thousand islands bridge?

I'm heading out Wednesday, crossing over at 1,000 Islands. I'm driving from Kitchener, meeting up with a few friends from Odessa and Kingston Wednesday around 10am, and cruising to the Fairgrounds. The wife is already packed, ya she's my luggage, but she don't take much space.
We have booked a nearby hotel. 4 days at a car show would be wwwwaaaaaayyyy to much for my wife and 2 daughters. LOL
I am driving my 47 Mercury down and my wife will be driving her car. I need to get my 38 Chev done so everyone can fit.

That's about the same time I'll be crossing. Hey, maybe we'll get lucky and get our cavities searched by the same border guard !! Ya never know ??? (I)

Thanks for the Heads up, I'll make sure to get there shortly after you, since you seam to attract attention. This way I should be able to breeze through like usual.
Let me know when you're heading back, so you can repeat the procedure.
We should be crossing at Odgensburg around 10:30-11AM. Ross will have the blue/ silver 71 Nova behind the motor home and Kevin will be driving his 73 Ventura, us we will be in the truck with the 5th wheel behind. That is unless Ross wants the 57 which has A/C???
Dan and others,
Thanks for the driving offer but real cars still have cowl vents, don't forget our "meet and greet" set for 1pm on Saturday, everyone have a safe trip, stay cool and hydrated( beer doesn't count), enjoy the event!!
I will be in the Right Coast booth from 3 pm to 6 pm on Saturday afternoon in the Centre of Progress Building. That is the large air conditioned building where many indoor vendors are located. I will be wearing a blue shirt with my name Brian on it, so please stop by and say hi if you are going by there between 3 and 6 on Saturday. Many of you are from Southern Ontario so I haven't had the chance to meet you, being that I am from Ottawa.
Safe travels to Syracuse to all of you that are making the trip!!
I made it down ok. Stopped in at the picnic, more cars there than at most shows in Ontario.
I saw a few local cars there.
On my way out of registration I saw Sacotu rolling in, complete with space tube trailer.
See you guys at the show.

Hey Guys, just got back home from dodging the Insane Canadian drivers on the 401. Will try and post some vids from my dash cam of me getting cut off a half dozen times. Hope everyone that went down made it back safe. It was an awesome weekend, and met some great Ontario Rodders members. It will sure make things more enjoyable on here having put a face on some of the Guys here. It's too late for me to start stirring the crap tonight because of the exhausting past few days, so you'll have to give me a couple of days to recuperate. LOL
Congrats Mike on the award, it was well deserved.
Congrats also to Dubya31 for getting picked for Street Rodder's top 100. Can't wait for the issue to come out. Also looking forward to the next issue of "Dogs" magazine so that I can teach myself how to tell the difference between a Poodle and a Portuguese Waterdog!! (I'll let Dubya explain that joke)

I made it back. Great show as usual. Got to meet a few of the guys from the forum there. It rained Friday night and Saturday about 1:00 pm. It was nice being in the Old skool barn my truck and I didn't get very wet.
Hemi 43 got a some award so he will have to tell us all about that.
When the Old Skool awards were handed out I ended up taking this home.
had a great time. watched a movie with hemi43 and atomsplitter friday evening, while it was raining we sat in the opening of a horsebarn, somebody projected (Fast & Furious 6) onto the side of a barn across the alley. ran into lots of folks, couldn't find anyone for the 1:00ish ontario rodder meeting. left saturday evening to come home, the guy that i was hanging with, sort of had to be home for his wifes birthday sunday. the twinkie towed flawlessly. was a little concerned when we set up because the a/c was tripping the breaker but after we set it on low it kept us cool for the rest of our stay.

Think the little shower from 1-2 screwed up the meet and greet plan, spent some time with Ron(Atomsplitter) and Dan (Hemi43) on saturday morning, both really good guys, nice to be able to put a face to the names. Don't know if Dan ended up winning a top 12 award, I'm sure he'll let us know.

Great meeting Don and his wife!! I had just learned that they picked my car for top 100 when they showed up, and felt bad that I had to make our conversation short because they wanted me to move my car to a different location right away.
I was also lucky enough to get picked for best "chopped" vehicle which made for an excellent weekend. Definitely satisfying, and appreciated to get credit for something so much work has gone into.
