I used a Lokar in my '41 for the 700arf,,if you are after something with a vintage look. I did not see anything else suitable for an auto for old vehicles.

I have used both Genie and Lokar I like the Genie because it is not push button but both work very well. My cars are custom and I usually go for the tall stick just for looks.

I'm leaning towards the Gennie. Modfather, did you have any issues with adjustments or setup? There are guys on the H.A.M.B who complain about them, although those guys seem to complain about anything that isn't over 60 years old!!

Hey Dustman I have had no issues, easy to install looks cool and it sticks up above the dash. My shift knob is a 1950's sure 50 microphone. But the Lokar is good too just I dont like the push button idea.

TVR cable is the "kicker" on getting the trans. set up right. Been told if you don't have it set right 1st. time you "COOK" the transmission??? no 2nd. chance!!!!!

That's at the carb linkage though, not the shifter. But I agree. the TV cable geometry must be correct. Geometry corrector brackets are available for the different carbs.

The Lokar shifts too smooth,,don't always know where you are,,and with the push button shifter you have a limited selection of very expensive shifter knobs. A Lokar shifter is not going to fall into park when you are careening down the highway at warp speed, not that it will happen unless you look like me. I'd probably go with the Genie if I were to do it again but when I was putting my truck together I believe Genie was having some "corporate problems" which have since been taken care of. The TVR cable is critical,,kid down the street set mine up, I had no clue, never heard of it as this is my first automatic transmission.
