Emission components??

I have a 1968  327 sbc that I would like to put in a 53 Gmc pick up, but with all the ministry crap ,I would like to know what emission components would have been used at that time?  Anyone know a good website or where I can find this info?

1967 engine, probably a PCV and that's it. Put it in and don't worry about it.

I checked the emissions section of my Chiltons. PCV is all you need.

I asked the MOE what they use in order to determine what a vehicle needs as far as emission control components.  I was hoping to use this information to my advantage, allowing me to know BEFORE I got pulled over, exactly what the MOE requires of me.  They told me to use GM Vintage services and pay between $90 and $130 for info regarding what I need.  I stated that I don't want to know where to get the information, I want to know what THEY (the MOE) or how THEY (the MOE) determine what a vehicle or engine needs.  If I know what the MOE is expecting to see on my car, then I can equip it with the needed components.  It has now been MONTHS since I sent that email and I have not heard back (nice, real nice).

They aren't even interested in helping us conform, they simply want the revenue from tickets in order to help justify their jobs.

I'm building a rod also and I also wish to avoid any troubles with the emission police (Ministry of the Environment, Ontario). I have researched this extensively to try to determine when emission controls entered Ontario as pertains to the small block Chevy because after several letters to the MOE it left me just as confused as when I started asking. It's like, 'you'll know when it doesn't pass when we fine you' sort of thing! The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve was mandated in all passenger cars in 1963. The PCV is actually a good thing because a road draft tube, which was used to ventilate the crankcase prior to the PCV system did not function well at low speeds. This causes a greater and faster buildup of harmful deposits when driving at low speeds, like during cruise nights, so we all should be running a PCV system because it better protects our engine. Now, with the Canadian small block Chevy GM started using the CCS (Controlled Combustion System) in 1968. The CCS used a re-calibrated carburetor for leaner fuel mixtures and distributors with an increased range of advance and retard action for a greater degree of ignition timing control. Neither of these can be easily detected during a roadside inspection. But there is one more item in the CCS, the ThermAC air filter housing. This is the one with the valve in the snorkel that admits either cold air, or hot air from a tube going down to a cover on the exhaust manifold, or a mixture of both, as controlled by a sensor in the housing. This, the MOE guys can easily spot. After all this I have decided to sell off my four 350 engines, oh I just love throwing away money :( and use only 1967 and earlier engines that use only the PCV. Now I can use my chrome aftermarket air filter. From what I have found out over the past year that I have been investigating, this looks to me like the only sure fire way to get a pass from these guys. Of course this all assumes that the vehicle itself is also 1967 and earlier as the MOE guy says the emission controls have to be either the year and model of the engine OR the year of the vehicle whichever is newer. That one really screwed up my twin V8 Chevette idea. Yeah, I know... but the drawing looks sooo coool!! Hope this helps and if anybody has a more definitive and researched answer please post it.
