What's the going rate to dyno an engine?

Engine has already been broke in.

Had one price of 600 bucks?

I take it being the engine alone and out of the car? sounds about right if thats the case . If your talking rear wheel curves. Drive it on and ramp it up there smokin to much weed.

Just east of Port - I know Rob

And you get what you pay for.

In my case he was going to charge me $650

that included two hours breakin on the stand, , check all settings - let it sit over night for complete cool then a complete fluids change- check all settings - then run the engine as often as it took to tune it for max power, then change the oil again, and set in the back of your truck

Pretty decent price for all that in my mind

Now I hear you can get dyno time elsewhere for $75 an hour, minimum 4 hours, and everythign else is extra. And i have heard of dyno runs for $350 ... however that was years ago, and like everythgn else - I am sure prices have gone up

i think a 350 dyno run just gets it set on the dyno an a coupla pulls and a print out
the 650 one sounds like a pretty good set up , most dyno shops are like here,s your sheet bye bye .
I,m gonna use rollingthunderz.com for my new drag car engine . They have a drive on dyno that can simulate a 1/4 mile run .

With all those old e-test chassis type machines kicking around, someone needs to get creative and pick one up.

 Yup, actually West of Port.

I thought that was a good price too. Just thought I would see if anyone else had tested the waters.

They sound like they know what they are doing.

Bearing check, run in time, dyno and fluid change and dial in.

Saves blowing up first time down the track...lol.no

Last November I was told by the shop that has done my Drive Clean tests for years that his "old" dyno setup was going to be scrap metal come January and it couldn't be used for dyno testing in the traditional sense. That's a $60,000 initial investment up in smoke, and another $20,000 for his new equipment and tech training. I wonder what MOE will do for these inspection centres if they cancel Drive Clean?

$650 for a full day of tuning, setup, and fluid changes is quite good. That's cheaper than the going rate by quite a bit.

I thought about trying to get one of those old dyno's but they are only good to about 300hp generally.

The old emission test machines are useless for HP testing. They won't handle the speed or power required for a chassis dyno.

The old one that was in the shop I am at was sold and is in Ohio.

I still have the 5 gas analyser here  though.

I'm going to be looking for a place to run my 409 when it's done. I know Garry (tirediron) had his 409 over to Palmers to run.

Anyone in the Stratford area looking for dyno tests, "HISHON Bros" did i think dyno engines for a number of cars , (they did their own, as the whole family is into drag racing, have been for going on 50 years.)
A great bunch of guys.

$650.00 for a whole day and part of the next is a good deal. At least you know it will be right before you bolt it all up. We have used Entec many times in the past when we raced CASCAR back in the day.

what do you need a dyno for?  350 sb, aluminum intake, 750 holley, headers = 450hp all day, dropped in a S 10 of course.

425hp if its a 305 from a propane taxi
