Project 58 Delray by Mistake

My intent was to tune up the 235, get it safetied and drive her. Well, I went and found a running 348 tri-power (thanks Brian W.) and will slide it in there behind the 3-on-the-tree this year. It needed a few small patches in the trunk for a legit safety.

Now some of you know my wife decided not to be my wife recently, so now I have to thrash on this car before I move at the end of April. So here's what's up with a "few patches in the trunk"...

Hadn't planned on it at all. I was hoping to get the floor in the Impala buttoned in before the move. Still am, actually.

It sure seems to be a big club eh? Friggin sucks. On the up side, the shop at my new place is bigger than the one I have now.
Another up side, is I have given myself such a short time frame that I am actually progressing with my projects.

I offered that advice to a pal years ago...I just can't bring myself to take my own advice. Bit of a wussy I guess. Either that or I just don't want to share a cell with my new friend "Bubba"!!

I'm just gonna pack up and move on.

Now...never mind the BS...this is a car forum. How do ya like my can of worms car-wise?

Thanks. Nature did a heck of a job turning the shiny black finish into hot-rod flat black. It's gonna stay that way. And the 348 with the 3-speed is gonna be real cool.

i don't worry about copies i only like originals. when i bought the engine/car (70 vette) in the early 80's the LT1 of the 90-96 wasn't around yet. i'm just as opinionated with remakes of music.

Once the 348 is up and running the 235 will be up for grabs. I put a Pertronics set up in it, including coil. I also rebuilt the carb, new plugs cap, rotor and wires and a new fuel pump. Haven't had it on the road yet so I don't know how it really runs. Stay tuned.

Nice work Chris. Sorry I havn't been over to help out (Drink your beer!) I have been busy with the maple syrup thing. Should have close to 100 litres of finished syrup by the end of the week. Then I will stop by for support (Drink your beer!).

Got the F-350 stickered again for the move too! Cheers

Gas tank's back in, underside of trunk floor painted, spilled some primer on the corners of the quarters so I can put the bumper back on. This week I turn my sights onto my 58 Impala to get the floor in it before April 26th...then I gotta pack up and shove off!

Thanks John. I think I just doubled the value of the car lol!

This car certainly doesn't have the trail of owners like your car. It sold new in London at Central Chev and I bought it from the second owner, also of London.

No, not robbing parts, just spending money I don't have! Gotta love Visa. As long as they don't take my card, I ain't broke!

The entire trunk floor was crap. Someone brazed sheet metal over the original rusted-out floor...same with the quarters...without cutting out the rusted areas. That's why this became so extensive.

Hey chris, nice to see some progress on this car! Knowing the previous owner, you've done more to it in the short time you've had it then he has all those years. As far as the repair faux pas, I can tell you that it wasn't the previous owner - the car hadn't changed much and he barely drove it entire time he had it. Glad it has gone to a better home - It's gonna be BAD ASS!!!
