Thanks for posting the pics. Was good to see Eric Hill's cool flatty powered '34 Ford pick up mingling with the ELTA guys. As always, the basement was the place to be. This is a show you never want to miss.
They guy that built the riddler this year used to work for Troy . The 40 was a really cool build . Was disappointed the 56 ford f100 from Boot Hill in Erin Didn't get great 8 . The RIddler is an old boys club . The basement was really cool this year lots of top 100 streetrodder cars.
Great show again, seemed like less spectators than last year, also we noticed a few empty spots upstairs...........................figured with all the old Riddler winners there must have been a shortage of cars available.

Some of our club memebers went and there was two differnt opinions. The first being from the elder members " there were to many camaros and mustangs seen one seen them all. The only good room was down stairs". The younger club members enjoyed and appreciated everthing even the trip. So What is happening? More 70's and 60's stuff and a younger crowd, all of the elders passing on and the traditional hot rod going with them ? I know some of the hot rods on kijiji are dirt cheap but it just seems nobody wants them. I had the same problem with the 55 Ford Kustom it was listed for over a year right across Canada. It finaly sold and I did consider myself lucky that it ended going to a good home. I think the times are changing and the new era is upon us. 60's 70's 80's and some late model hot rods too. JMO
Although I didn't go this year ,the old legs just can't take a day of that venue anymore... I can relate to the older set in your opinion..It is one of the reasons I don't bother with these types of shows anymore..Too many Camaros, mustangs, challengers, darts, chevelles, novas, tuners and stereos ..For me yah seen one, yah seen em all, they lack imagination and creativity, store bought and bolt on muscle, no patina, no creativity just money ......muscle cars/pro street cars do squat for me..I have no interest in anything newer than about mid sixtie..But it's still a good thing some of the younger generation do because I think if it were only about us old dudes there would not be enough money to keep the venues going..growing old sucks for reasons other than cars..I think if they didn't have the basement cars the creative hot-rodsthere would not be enough cars or spectators to have a show..Those guys from the ELTA and such have the most creativity and passion and build rods for excitment and fun for the fun of commrodderie and friendship and driving their cars..The other stuff is just for money and magazines and gold chainers...and to keep the Barrret Jackson Auctions on T.V...JMO..
Chuckie, What a great compliment to the brothers of ELTA. Yep I don't know how creative we are but, we do drive'em. The show this year in the basement was larger than ever 223 cars etc. The quality of car has risen dramatically in the basement. No more clapped out POS's dropping parts on the floor, just good solid HOTRODS Oh by the way the basement organisers are now calling the main floor the "Attic".
Actually the Canadian crew downstairs did really well. We took 5 cars and came home with 3 winners! Ron Limbrick took another two on his own
Mark won for Best Nostalgic Sadan
Eric Hill out of Kingston won for Best Traditional truck
My new roomate Al Wood won a Celbrity Pick from the Vice Pres of ISCA( sorry don't know his name)
This is Ron's car, Sorry Ron, no pictures of the awards
And last but certainly not least, is the beautiful original pen and ink that Ryan Thompson (Mind's Eye Design) presented to Mark ansd Jamie.
Here's a couple of "new" friends and the best kind "Old friends"
Thanks for the pics Wayne.. Sorry I missed out on the great time, but a guy has to know his limitations ..when walking for a day.. great Pics and cudo's to all the bros..Love the smile on Marks face..He is just about the greatest ambassador one could find in for this hobby..What a great guy for keeping the party alive ...Looks like a great time was had by all and I am glad to see the bar raised for saftey, quality and class in the Basement where the car stuff really happens....Nice roadster there in that pic.. ..We need to shove the guy from Oz over here for some talk as well..glad every one is back home safe...getting pretty tempting to get on the road to do some cruising.. trying to be patient
Chuckie, I had the blue out on the 5th just to make sure everything was OK. Then Al Wood provided me with space in his trailer. I ALMOST had to get shiverey. There will be stuff closer to home for you to enjoy so don't fret not being there. I still have "cement legs"

I thought it was kinda funny how, some of the basement cars were nice enough to be upstairs. There were quite a few empty spots around the main floor, and the toy show part, has pretty much died. The floor plan wasn't set up very well, not compared to other years.
Congratulations to the ELTA guys for winning your awards. Your enthusiasm is contageous, and your hospitality generous. This is what hot rodding is all about.

Hey brothers................. I wanted to say thanks for all the kind words, good vibes and congrats........it's certainly appreciated from all the ELTA Disciples. We had a blast over the 4 days down in Detroit doing the show. To tell you the truth, this past year was a tough one with so many good hot rod and drag racing brothers passing on to that big hot rod shop in the sky that we all thought lets stroke the Detroit Autorama off the "bucket list" by putting in some rides in the show. Besides having some of our Piston Pusher bubbies hanging all weekend with us, it was just icing on the cake to come home with some very cool awards.....lol.......I had to pinch myself and to share these special memories with the best club brothers one could ask for, well that was so cool also..........thanks Disciples for all your hard efforts.......I'm still smiling.
