Gotta watch out on "some" marine engines!!! They turn the opposite direction!!! can be corrected with Cam replacement, dist & starter etc.!!!! Could end up with 5 spds reverse & 1 forward if a std. trans.!!!!

They haven't made reverse rotation marine engines for years now. Now they just change the rotation in the drive.
If its an older marine engine, you do have to check, but I don't think I have ever seen a reverse rotation big chevy (doesn't mean they don't exist) And don't forget to change the crank otherwise it will just pour oil from the rear main. The knurling on the crank designed to direct oil from the rear main seal is in the wrong direction also.
But marine engines are great for cars if they are standard rotation. They usually have the heavy duty parts in them, and are balanced to a finer tolerance than automotive engines.
