Local cars for sale

I was looking at the stuff for sale on Kijiji and got to wondering if all areas are the same. When a local car goes for sale all the guys notice and say" Buddy" has his car for sale or did you see "Buddys"selling his ride.Would you buy a local well known car .If someone buys it how long does it stay"Buddys"car.Every time you show it how long do you have to hear ,hey isn't that"Buddys old car".I did buy a local car once and it was a couple of years before it became my car.You could change a bunch of stuff ,but you probably baught it because you liked it the way it was. There are some really nice cars for sale at this time an I just wonder if this has any berring on them not selling for a long time.  Ed

Yes I think you are right I don't want "buddys car" unless it was Boyd Coddington's or Chip Foose's of course. Could put a real damper on a local sale.

I have always bought local cars....Mostly though, they were 1/2 completed projects that hadnt been on the road in years, so were never recognized as anyones but mine.

I have bought many local cars and I have no problem with isn't that buddys old car. My response is yes it was and he did a real nice build. Usually followed by but is mine now and I am going to take it to the next step. That usally engages a conversation and it is not long before it is my car my way. I also never take credit for somone elses build unless of course it was one of mine. Some but not all like to take credit for something they never had anything to do with the build. I have seen this many times and the problem is we know that that he is full of shi_.no

I wonder if it's the times we are in that so many cars are for sale.. and not selling ..like age, lots of us are just getting older hell I will 70 real soon now...cost of fuel, storage, maintenance insurance, MOE hassels real or percieved, If married probably the wife doesn't go out with you to car stuff much any more, Tired of sitting around in asphalt parking lots, most of already got more chit we have collected than we can get rid of, after 30 to 40 years of seeing the same chit lugged to swap meets it's lost it's flavor, some are downsizing to a smaller place due to either health problems, fixed incomes and need to cash in their assets, money is getting tighter. time for some to sell the house and buy smaller , some have senior parents they need to help take care of ..with all the green bull-chit it's allmost becoming like being a smoker if you own a hot rod your a hooligan, and a poluter, soon we will only be allowed to drive on certain roads at certain times.. our cars are becoming dinasours, most young guys don't have the MONEY, skills, passion or desire to own or buy ..rides and times are changing like it or not this really was a boomer generation hobby mostly..Think I just convinced myself time to sell..biggrin biggrin  but not this year cruisin season is just around the corner..the body is old and sore, moves much slower and not with-out pain but the right leg and ankle can still push the pedal towards the metal ..may not be an orgasim, but damn it can still give me a pretty nice feeling, I can still feel 17 in my mind lots of Johny Cash on the radio, loud noisy exhaust, the smell of old cars..I hate getting old ..this old car hot-rod hobby has been my life for so long it will have my best memories and many of you like me probably have many too.. I am going to miss this alot as I get older ..and like the end of the roll of poop paper..the seasons are coming and going much faster these last few years..any else notice that ? I think I am pretty much driving my last ride ..next one is likely to be a long black Cadillac....no

Takes a whole lifet-time to afford a hot tub and just when it's paid for we have to sell it cause we can't afford the hydro..

I can't help with the cost of hydro but I can help with the price of a hot tub. I currently have 3 used spas and 1 new spa (on consignment) available for sale if anyone is in need of some hydro therapy for your old and tired bones. PM me for details...also service spas, move spas and offer replacement covers. Super deals for OnRod members...Right Chris58

Thanks FatChuck...lol

WOW...took the words out my mouth...chuk

Except the black cadillac.....can't afford that. I'll be creamated and down the road in the back of a Lada !

I like the toilet roll ananlogy....but I think life is more like a toboggan ride.

Start out slow at the top of the hill.....gaining speed through your teens and twenties....flying past your thirties, forties and fifties

Starting to slow in your sixties and seventies......until you stop at the end of your run...never knowing how long your run is

Plenty of ups and downs...lots of excitement...some smooth times .....some ruff times and......

Never knowing if or when during your run you will hit a tree !

Sorry about the driffting....back to the thread

If I buy a car it would be unfinished and would change so much..... it would be unrecognizeable anyway

If I build and sell a car....I'd never want to see it again......but will remeber it always.

Years ago I built a wild pick up that I lost during a divorce.( that's another story)

I was at a car show years later and overheard these two guys yappin about thier trucks.

This guy starts braggin about how HE BUILT this awsome truck and Blah, Blah, Blah...and pulled out a picture...I leaned over and even though it

was a diffrent colour...I recognized it right away as the one I built. I started to ask him about the truck and questions that only I would know

( because I built it)....he couldn't answer and got frustrated and asked me why I wanted to know such details...I smiled and told him.....

because I want to know if it's the same as when I BUILT IT.....wow did he get red faced. He called me a liar and an azzole...to save face i guess

I turned and walked away....smiling to myself

After 58 years and 24 owners, I still refer it as "our" car and happy to share it all with them.

Just crunching the numbers here and this is what I came up with ... your car changed owners (on average) every 2.4 years.

Yep!

My first thought was "what is wrong with your car that every owner wants rid of it after (again, on average) only 2.4 years of ownership?"

Guess you will have to ask them!

I think after a yr. or 2 the history of past owners starts to fade!! I was lucky with the 64 Catalina. 3 prev. owners here in Ont. & none of them ever drove the car or showed it. Stored almost 12 yrs. after coming to Canada from S/Carolina untill I bought it, in 2001!!!

I can tell you that there's noth'n wrong with the T Bird Deuce. I know most of the people that have owned that car since 1955 and they all loved it. Circumstances dictated that it was time for the car to move down the road. When it was built it was probably better than state of the art and it's held up extremely well over all these years.

So true and there is nothing wrong with each person doing what they want with "their" car at there time.

It seems some find it easier to look for something negative rather than except what it is.
