Hi everyone, my name is Tony, I'm from Orangeville. It's great to find a site with a lot more local people. I've got a few projects on the go, but my pride is a 1966 Beaumont custom convertable. I bought her about 20 years ago from a wreckers near Ottawa. I put in a carbed LQ9 700r4 combo, and IRS from a '92 Lincoln. Right now I'm in the process of switching it over to standard cause I blew the automatic at the end of last summer. Well thanks for letting me join in on the group and I hope to chime in once and awhile.
Welcome Tony! Love the '66,'67 Beaumonts & Chevelles! I had a '67 Chevelle hardtop about 20 years ago, sold it as I was building a '28 Model A, didn't want the aggravation of keeping up multiple cars. Enjoy the site!
I got her from Douglas,Ont. I don't remember the name of the wreckers. She was posted as a picture at Barrie Flea market as a fixer upper[should of known better] I gave him his $100, took the picture and the following week picked up the car.
Thanks for the compliments everyone, she was very rough when I got her, the only things that are original to the car is the drivers fender, chrome and interior everything else is either new or from a doner. The IRS was not bad to put in, I had a spare frame to mock up on, so I made the indipendant cradle underneath and bolt into place-so if I ever wanted to remove it the original frame was not compromised. It works very well, I've had it in the car now for 3 years. Those rear ends are great, they come with disc brakes all aluminum componants. If you can't find a Lincoln they also came in Thunderbirds and a few other fords. For the "A" body the width was only 1" narrower which was ok for me.
