Hey Ya'll!    What a gorgeous weekend for a show!!  Went to Lindsay fair grounds around 10:30, saw that it wasn't as full as I thought it would be,  but had to drive around to let my daughter sleep alittle more so she could be up for her first show.  Perfect chance to take in some country side....drove thru Little Britian, down to Scugog Lake and drove around some lake side neighbourhoods.  Again, beautiful day for a drive.  By the time we got back to the fair grounds the cars, and parking were filling up more.  There were some absolutely sweet rides outside!  I was like a kid in a candy store, except without pennies (lots of them).. and some expensive ones for sale around the side.  Spent most of our morning there and then inside for a quick boo.  Had to get us all fed so we found some grub, and while eating I notice all the other venders outside around the camping area.  I had no idea!!  They should of had some people with maps or some signage around saying whats where, and yadda yadda....cuz by the time we finished eating it was getting time to leave, and so I wasn't able to even scratch the surface of all the rust and car-nedges...(tired wife and baby)....But all in all it was a great day for me.  I was with my family, surrounded by beauties from all makes, models and years!
SO if this works, I have uploaded just some of my favourite rides, for anyone who didn't make it or went to Stirling instead.   My fav's are the first car, and the last three.  ah who'm I kiddin...they're ALL my favourites!  Gotta love a rusty rat!!  I actually heard them before I saw them!  Nice.

If I only had the money, skill, tools, and time to build a ratrod of my own, I'd have it made!    Maybe it'll be like Johnny Cash said...."One piece at a time.."  where to start?!

Cheers,

Chance

They were canvassing people as to their thoughts about opening it up for Friday sales as well. There were 2 booths selling blankets and sheets. One big booth inside selling sun glasses. When we got there our spot was on the gravel parking lot surrounded by big trailers with no traffic. A quick word with them and they had a truck and trailer to help us move to a new double spot in the main area which were have for next year. My daughter was with me on Sunday and came back to our spot with two dvd's she had bought all shrink wrapped and new looking. Well she called me on Sunday and when she opened them they were scratched and skipped / froze when played. Went back to the spot and if course they were not there.
I obtained contact info for the sellers so we will see what their response is when I call them.
Sold some stuff and am looking forward to next year.

I enjoyed it, very few "non- Automotive venders & hope they eliminate those that did get in!! They needed to hand out a map of "lay-out' of the fair grounds!! would have made it easy to see which way the isle's were laid out. Also Gay's right about the dust!! The ring road that goes around the fair grounds need to be washed down with Calcium as this was the main traffic flow to leave the grounds or get to parking areas [many of them]Entrance from road was 3 or 4 lanes so no hold ups there, car show area was large & full on Sat. Large car Coral as well. Good varity of parts for sale & heard some vendors saying that this will be their Spring swap meet & Barrie can go "screw themselves" didn't have to sell 1/2 their stuff just to pay for the lot here!! I'm sure they will get a the "KINKS" worked out for yr 2!!! Stirling turned one of my friends away, after he got there on fri. thay "double" sold his lot & someone else was in it even though he'd paid for it last yr. showed them the receipt but was out of luke but did get a refund. Still pi$$ed as he couldn't sell anything this spring & was too late to get a spot at Lindsay & is going to do Lindsay next yr.so each location had some problems!!! Pete

Being the first time i'm sure they will make changes for next time, i hope. Like dust control and hopefully get rid of having to drive all the way around the track to leave the place.

Hard to win with a dirt track in todays day and age water is about all they are going to let you spray on it for dust control and then people will complain about mud . dust was a problem last year at the new rocktin location for the waterdown show but we did enjoy sunny hot weather . This year it wasn't a problem but it rained hard on the Friday and was cooler Saturday and Sunday . Unless they can reroute traffic in and out it might just be a fact of life depending on the weather

Nice pictures thanks I did not get a chance to get over there to see the show field and when I got to the car sales area they were mostly gone. I hear I missed out on a nice show and by your pictures I guess I did. Myself and two other car part venders I know left Barrie in the fall for the last time (since 1978 Molson Park on the Annex) and now vending at Lindsay. It is nice to see only car parts around me and not being in the middle of a street yard sale. This was the first year at this location and I found the AACA guys very accommodating. The people next to us were on the hard gravel and could not drive in the canopy pegs so they did some shovelling of venders and all were happy. Pete I do not now if it was the same guy but I spoke to Brian and he was some upset loading all his stuff and driving to Stirling from Lindsay and finding they sold his spot and sent him home. And I always thought that only happened at Barrie.
I even fired up my factory big block 66 Biscayne sleeper that has not run in over 30 years to sell there. Still sounds mean but it sure looks like it has been to hell and back but no rust yet. I did not even clean the dust off of it and you could hardly see through the glass. There was a pile of rubber necker's stopped to have a look when they realised what it was. No offers for it so back in the barn and plan B is rebuild the drive line. Redo the seats leave the rubber carpet and drive it with the badly sunburnt paint as ugly as it is. I will also leave the radio delete and hide a radio in the trunk. My factory rat rod I guess.
With any luck I will have it in the show field next year at Lindsay and get a prize for the worst looking car pulled out of a desert town.
See you at AACA Lindsay next year.

I think I will have the only rat rod that is a former New Mexico police two door pursuit vehicle. I do not think calling it a survivor sounds as good as rat rod when you realize it is an x cop car that you are referring to.
