I know this topic sounds like a broken record, but I have to share my E-Test hell story with ya'll.I went in today to get My 2006 GMC 2500 truck done.Left it with the service people, walked around to look at new trucks and decided to wait for it,WELL 1 hour later, after the tech guy tried to get a reading, and it would not register, they decided to get the book out,and guess what,it said if you have a truck 2006 and older with a GVWR of 3856 to 4500 it must have a 2 speed idle test,if 2007 and newer then a OBD test, the shop doesn't have a snifer,so they can;t do it.So we call around to find out who can do it,Canadian Tire has one,so on the phone, call said we might fit you in sometime today, away I go to CTC,wait there for about 1/2 hour, goes in the shop, plugs it in and guess what, won't pass,it says NON obd compient, tech guy gets out book, figures it all out, does a 2 speed test and passes with flying colours,My beef here is why does this drive clean crap continue, cause they still can't figure it all out, come on if it has a gvrw of 3856 or more no good,if it was 3855 they can do it,I am glad I didn't go to the beer and LCBO store before the test then I would have never got this test done, would have been over my 4500 kg limit, cheers and have a good E-test,,, :(

I'm looking forward to a bit of fun with our 2008 honda crv. The light is on and it's the evap system code. Had to replace the cat and now the testing begins.

Why would you replace the CAT for an EVAP code?
EVAP is the sealing of the fuel system so fumes don't escape.

What code did you get? If it's a small evap leak, it could be the gas cap. I have replaced mine twice in one year after throwing codes. I used OEM gas caps too, not the cheap crap.
So they did smoke test and found cracked hoses. Replaced them and drove 1 day and light came back. This time they replaced the solenoids and cleared code. Lasted long enough to pass and now light is back on for another 2 years and wallet is $500 lighter. What a system.
The system is a problem, so are the guys fixing your car. They should have had it fixed the first time. On the other side EVAP codes are a pain to diagnose and repair. Go back and complain, they should have it fixed right the first time. Drive clean demands it.
