I talked to Steve on Thursday night. The rumours are correct, he says it's the last one OF THIS TYPE! There may be more in the future but there will be less cost involved. I just want to say Thank you Steve, for all the things we know you have done and all the things that nobody knows about, that you have done behind the scenes. You are in fact one special person and I am honoured to call you friend!

Just read Jodi kish's write up in Old Autos on this years Fleetwood Country Cruize-in at Steve Plunketts. Sounds like this was Steve's last show.
Thank you Steve for ALL you have done for all of us.
Yup heard the same thing ,he is a busy guy and this event yakes a enormous amount of effort. The show relys on a very large group of volunteers and this can be a task getting the help needed also.
I have to applaud the efforts of all that have made this show possible and to Steve to let everyone use his property for this show but also every Thurs night. Taking a different course can be a good thing.
We shall see where this goes.......

Well....I kinda said that a while back, but it didn't matter, because I heard it from Steve's wife's friend.
It really doesn't come as a surprise to me, but maybe some others will consider it official now.
I will probably get in touch with Steve, to see which direction the Charities will be taking as to what will be happening with the show itself and who will be spearheading it and what not...
Maybe at the same venue with a different organizer/manager? The only other location I can think of to host a similar event this size, would be Fanshawe Park

Or if the city fathers would get off of their collective asses and let Springbank Park be used for a show of this size
Picking a venue is not as easy as it appears, it's not just about the space to park the show cars. You needs tons of parking for the public, washroom facilities etc...It 's very difficult to use a city owned park for these type of events, due to liabilities and the fee the city would charge, if they decide to go ahead with it, generally speaking, if there's nothing in it for them, it won't fly.
You'd need to come up with some sort of presentation, detailing the demographics and how many participants, visitors etc... it would attract, and how local businesses (restaurants, hotels...) would benefit. That's just for starters, there's countless hours and people that need to get involved to pull it off. The list goes on...
I guess the rumours were wrong
Just got the latest Old Autos and June 7th and 8th 2014 is the next show
50 years of Mustang celebration, all years of Mustangs welcome
Meet Courtney Hanson, George Barris , Linda Vaughn and Gene Winfield

Steve also put on a car show/cruise for what he calls the big wheels. All teens and twenty's vehicles.
I stopped in at the little beaver for lunch back in July and the parking lots were full of really sharp old cars from all over Canada and the States.
Had a quick chat with Steve and it sounds like it will be an annual event as well. I had no idea it was going on. I'll have to keep an eye out for it next year.
Not hot rods but would be cool to check out.
