How long do you guys and gals stay at a car show.Do you get there early or like me roll in around 11 or so stay a couple of hrs and then hit the road unless its one of the shows at a race track ,fall fair or someplace with lots going on.Do you stay till 3or 4 and if you do why, friends, trophies,a day out.Do you stay very long if you have seen most of the cars over and over again.Do you buy the dreded 50/50 ticket and stay for the draw or do you buy one and chalk it up to charity and leave befor the draw. What about a local cruise night .Do you sit in the parking lot all night or do you go out on a cruise night and actually cruise around in your ride like the name suggests, cruise night.I guess after 30 some odd years,I might be getting burnt out as I just can't seem to sit still for long any more.I still love old cars, its just the shows I am having trouble with. Grumpy is right, build them and drive them,I do enjoy racing my car at the Armdrop events though ,it something new for me,I guess it is called the need for speed.Hope some post videos of the road trips to Syricuse with all of those new dash cams.  Ed

the club I,m in runs a cruise night at the local burger king on bayfield street . my gawd I can hardly go there any more .
where do I park , any place you want between the yellow lines .
I,m here with two friends , we can only find two spaces beside each other , can u announce that we need the guy in the black dodge to move ??
Why cant I park my car in that empty spot in the middle of those motorcycle guys .
people guiding their friends cars into parking spots an they still end up crooked .
people coming up the desk an complaining about the ricer guys that show up , sometimes 20 of them , they always park in the farthest corner of the cruise , and keep their music down { but they always have the hottest girls }

walking up to people and asking them questions about their cars , and realizing that , they only bought it an have no idea about anything on the car other then it a 69 and its blue

Ahhhhhhhh sum , sum , summa time , summa time again .

If I go to a cruise in a different town . I always try to make it like a day trip , go check out the town , do the cruise , go have dinner , take the woman that lives in my house for some shopping

like I wanna go visit some friends in Thorold , but I,m gonna wrap that visit around a side trip to merrittville speedway for some dirt track racing ..77.

i must be gettin old to ed. our weekly cruise here, belleville, is almost same old, same old. i don't go weekly anymore but now more so to shoot the **** with a couple of guys. the marmora cruise has some old time buddy's from the campbellford way that show up once in awhile and thats cool. lots of times i will ride the bike up just for the fresh air. like odessa this weekend i haven't been there for awhile but i won't stay all day saturday. likely cruise into kingston early for a nice supper and back road it home. i enjoy working in the shop on some sort of a project as much as anything. having multiple cars i set little projects for each and rotate them through then make another list and start over. anything big i try to set it up for the winter unless it is a must do. the armdrop drags are a grin. you sure run the wheels of that sedan. good for you. i am happy with 3-4 passes then watch for awhile. shannonville i really don't enjoy due to the 1/8th mile and the light tree. to be competitive there you have to set up for the 1/8th traction wise and then you take the fun out of street driving. i am still feathering the go pedal for traction in the chevelle by the end of the 1/8th and the race is over. oh well bud it is what it is. anytime out cruising or just yakking with some like minded guys is a good time. after watching you at picton there is no doubt that you do like just cruising around. good for you.

Come to Wasaga Beach cruise night every Monday at the Walmart. We don't have any of that stuff. Hardly ever a bike or a ricer but we usually fill the parking lot. Lots of hot tourist girls too!

I got to at least 3 or 4 cruise a week + a show on wknds. LOVE IT!!! thats what it's all about [no, not the HOKEY POKEY] get to see my friends, meet new people. Don't just sit in the chair, I'm up & on the move. Uxbridge cruise "always" has a selection of 1st. time cars & you may see them again or not, some owners have mutiple cars & switch cars. Weekend shows i try to get there early for a shade spot if possible, do the same things, but stay for 50/50 & awards. Don't go there to win, bonus if you do, but like to see the winners excited & hope their not "ANAL" on NOT WINNING!! Have seen that happen too. Guess I'm a cruise in /car show junkie, the trip there & back is 1/2 the fun. I go to West Virginia car show every JUNE for the last 8 yrs & planning another in Oct. in Charleston. Short season so make the best of it!!!! I look at the shows etc. as a social event & meet CAR PEOPLE!!!

The best part about car shows is driving there, and driving back. I don't go to many, but the ones I do attend usually have something else going on. An example is "Chrome on the Canal" where there's a ww2 museum to visit, or the "Brighton apple fest" where the whole town becomes alive and the car show is just a small part of it.

don't be little the comets. i had one, a 65, that was a really neat car. 2 dr htp with the chrome package on the sides, red car and white/creamy? swath between the chrome on the sides with the twin swooped back ariel's. factory 289, with added 2X4's, eddy heads and headers. had the big chrome dealer installed a/c unit with the mercuy man on it under the dash. old school creagers all around. don't know what was on it for mufflers but it just barked and snapped with a touch of the pedal. brought it home from texas with the 66 camino. people looking to buy it all the time. still got the camino. lol the camino is still for sale. someone is going to get a heck of a deal on it.

Sounds like the ricer guys were probably the most respectful and probably parked properly as well. They parked in the back, there are a lot of them 20 plus, and they all hung out together... Most of them that I've talked to seem to know there cars well(up grades etc.) and you say they keep there music down and ...have got all the good looking girls!!!  Interesting...................Sounds like what we used to do!LOL    Some could still argue the best looking girls part I'm sure!!!

I go to the cruises and car shows to look at the cars, could care less about winning an award. I own a Comet and have no chance of winning anything,it is not the most popular of cars. I do mostly stay till the end of a show or cruise and really never stay by my car. I'm too busy looking at the rides.

Well 77 it sucks that the Cruise at BK on Bayfield has been canceled. lets hope this is just temporary until the insurance issues are looked after. I roll over 1/2 hour every Saturday night to attend that one. Hemi 43 is correct the best part is the cruz getting there and back. It is also cool to hang with others in the car culture and checking out the rides and listening to bull s__t stories. Barrie always seems to attract new cars from all over and those bikers well they have some cool rides too. As for the rice burners and those young guys, they actually build their rides and know everything that went into them. They should be welcome at any cruise even if it's for the eye candy... lol Hey I was talking about the cars not the Betties :) but they are nice too. Car shows are good to but not so much for the mop and glow just the drive, the people, the community, the shops and restaurant's and of course the trip home. Yeah I got it but it is a great addiction, all the money I used to spend on beer I now spend on gasoline and grease.

I guess you have to remember the reason you enjoy old cars. For me its looking out over the hood and watching the road go by.Its the rumble of the exhaust and the waves of other rodders out cruisin. Its exploring new places and seeing what other car guys are doing .Its working on a buddies car for the afternoon. Its watching your kid fix something knowing you got them started. And yes its sometimes going to a car show.I usually park the car and head off to do what ever is happining at the venue cause I usually pick shows where there is something other than the cars going on.No way i can stay for 6or7hrs stareing at the same cars over and over.Pop in say hello.quick tour around to see if there is something new then off to do something else.If I do happen to stay till its over I usually like to find a spot near the exit and watch the cars leaveing .Nothing like seeing them in motion and hearing all the sounds they make.Don't give up just take a break and rember its a hobby no rules say you gotta go to every show and cruise and nothing says how long you gotta stay or who you have to talk to,the new guy could be a really cool person or those tuners may hve a new perspective on things. Mod Father , I hear rumours that the club was asked by the legion on the south west corner of cundles and st Vincent streets to bring the cruise nite there .
the corner that the burg king is on is ferris lane , go east on that street or go east on cundles from bayfield , those two roads go right to the legion parking lot .
there is a plaza right across the street with pub , restaurant , fast foods etc .
One of my fav things about car shows an cruises or going to the drag strips is , harassing people that have their stuff parked , hidden , stored , lost , to get their junk out an drive it .
right now me an a buddy are going to Cayuga on Monday the holliday for some test n tune runs , and I,m working on a guy with a mustang an a 65 ish yr old guy with a 70 sportser that I know has run a flat eleven .
yesterday I had the woman,s trans am out for a lil drive , went past his place , seen his truck at the house . sat out there revved the engine till he came out , then I yelled out Harleys suck an their slow , then took off , no tire squealing , cause I,m all about the environment an political correctness sh%t .
this weekend I,ll go by an just talk like nothing happened , and mention the strip to him again .
theres a dude in town has an old Anglia hot rod , he was saying he had to move it to a different spot in his shop . I said let me know when I,ll bring some guys , an we,ll push it , PUSH it he says . I,m like ya . its been sitting so long the motor probably seized , ha ha .
so even tho I,m a bit jaded on cruise nites I still like to get out ,
to the chevelle dude , you need to hang out with some fresh guys . insteada hitting the same cruise with the same guys , try hitting one in a different town , doesn't have to be a big one or a famous one , and when you get there walk up to people an talk to them , and not just chevelle guys , if,n you see a guy with some old funky hot rod , talk to that guy , he might be the most interesting guy you ever met or maybe nuts , but it would be an interesting convo , take the wife or g/friend and hit a nice sit down restaurant in that town and find some thing to do in that town .
Me an my woman , hadda go to a visitation service in P borough , after we went to a zoo park they have , and had a great time seeing the amnimals . ..77.

I only go to a show if there is a "distraction" I just returned from 4 days in Minneapolis at Back to the Fifties. Over 12,300 cars registered. Plenty of distractions including torrential rain, hail and 70 mph winds. $30 admission for vehicle and 2 uman beans, a dash plaque, beer mug,10" MSRA sign celebrating the 40th anniversary of the show. The show is for pre '65 vehicles, great show. I will likely only go to one other show in Ontario (Nipigon)this summer,,maybe a smaller show in Minnesota later in September. Down southern ontario must be a lots of competition to get entrants as there are so many shows ,,i looked over a schedule,,you could go to one within 100 miles of toronto every weekend..

it rained so hard water was pushed through doors and window seals,,,even my glove box had water in it.. weather during the days was perfect!

Judged car shows where you have to park in classses is a waste of my time, rather take in a cruise night but as has been said, same old cruise nights tend to get boring fast. Trying to take in a "new" cruise night every couple weeks, nice meeting new people and seeing different cars. Each year we plan for a couple longer distance shows, driving there is where the fun is, Syracuse, Atlantic Nationals, Adirondack Nationals, NSRA in Vermont never get boring.
