While at Odessa a fellow saw my HJ wanted sign and told me about a fellow down by Cardinal, ON that has one. I got his number from a guy on Hwy43car club FB site and called but had to leave a message. No one called me back so I called my buddy who live in Johnstown and he said that Russ got fed up with kids smashing windows so he called in the scrap people and sent over 200 cars etc to be crushed. I'm not holding my breath that the HJ was saved. tears in my eyes for all the good projects lost!!confusecry

That is BRUTAL!! So sad, scrappers appear to know nothing about collectible anythings, it is just weight producing more $$$$$.

who had all these cars in Cardinal of all the guys I know around there any parts would have cost twice the going rate or more. If anyone these days has 200 vintage cars in any kind of complete repairable condition the owner must be some kind of collector/hoarder. To bad broken glass would cause some idiot to crush them with out allowing others the ability to save parts for keeping other old cars on the road. He must not have really liked cars at all. Vindictive ass.

The guy's name is Russ. Another buddy called him for me and he only scrapped 50 or so. He has saved some. I talked to Russ and told him I will call early next week to go and see the HJ. I will try and report back after to tell what he has left and if he is interested in selling other cars.

Bernice and I went today and the HenryJ turns out to be a 54 Hudson Jet, complete and in near perfect shape. We had a great time talking to him and took many pic's of his cars, which are all for sale. He has a 36(?) Hudson coupe but would not give us a price. He has a late 30's Buick 4DR convertible. The vast majority are 60's Ford products, most 2DR. He has a Marauder in the garage as well as 15 other cars plus what is outside. I was there a few years ago he has an old school property but a collector/hoarder to me as most of his cars are at 10 year old U.S. market values. Like I say if you see old cars rotting in fields they will most likely stay there as you will not have been the first to ask. I first met Russ 20 years ago and most cars are still in the same place and the same price. To pricey to be fun only for the true old car restorer and there are not many of them around any more. I have pics from 5 years ago bet we can compare and tell which cars are missing.

Yes Pete his prices are very high in today's market. The Hudson is at 4000$ which for the condition is very worth it, but the rest of them are out of it. The Nash Metropolitan is at 15,000. And everything is for sale but if the price is too high either the kids will get them or??? Russ said he sold 400 acres across from the school so money is not needed.

They may not be high to sum but in this part of the world they are over priced. It happens all the time people go on the internet or buy value guides and "research" resale values. The issue is they never take into consideration the local market they are selling in. Eastern Ontario is a low demand market Ontario is a low demand market so pricing your stuff as if its for sale in Southern California will only make you look stupid. Most of these guys with collections of junk what ever it is have been sitting on so called "investments" but when the market drops they just get more jaded as they believe they are "entitled" to yesterdays prices even if there are no buyers.I have had this discussion with others some get mad at me because they have an 80s/90s look at I built this car and I need to get my $$ back. They walk around blaming saying everyone else is "cheap" and get mad at 'low ball" offers even when there cars have been for sale for up to 5 years. Do you guys think every one else is cheap or is allot
of stuff is over priced?

This is a hobby not a necessity. If people want cheap transportation they should buy a Sundird or Kcar. All things go at market value eventually. If its been forsale for 5yrs then obviousely the guy doesn't really want to sell it.There his cars and if he doesn't ned the money he will hold on to them till he does. The value of something isn't what someone is asking for it .the value is what someone is willing to pay.I don't understand why people get all bent out of shape when cars get scrapped. If they were any good they would have been sold before. The wrecking yards I go to are ful of cars that have been there for 30yrs and are now part of mother nature ,maybe a few trim parts but mostly just scrap waight. There are way more hobby cars fore sale now than I can remember seeing on Kijiji and the prices seem to be droping.Project cars seem to have no value at all and there are some really nice cars that people are willing to trade .Lots of guys on this site have said that they won't build another car the next time they are going to buy or trade. If you are looking for a hobby car than you must know they cost more than a regular car so there is no price comparrison there and as for the scrapping of old cars, well you just have to figure that just ups the value of those that are left. If collector/hoarders will sell cars for scrap for less than selling for parts or possible restoration than so be it. But collecting old cars in field and letting them just sit and crushing because a window got smashed by kids is just dumb. I dont care and never cared about resale values as when I started in the car crap I was told a hot rod or modified car devalued the resale and never bit into the whole Investment car bull. Old cars to me are supposed to be fun and cheap first foremost and always. But then again Im a LOSER.;)
