This is always a fun event, even though it got off to a rockey start. On the way to meet the guys I noticed it getting really hot in the 55.Looking at the guage it was rising rapidly ,not good I thought. It was at that point I noticed steam coming out from under the front end and since the car isn't steam powered ,I thought really not good. The Ratlers were to meet  at Timmies for coffee befor the show and I was almost there but decided to coast to the shop which was just around the corner .When I fliped up the front end I found a broken heater hose that I had been meaning to change, spraying around wildly all over the place .Moral to story fix it when you think of it .Repairs made and off to Timmies. When I get there all I hear is haven't you got a watch and the usual stuff when someone is late for a meet from Fatstax,Keith, and The Boy,who wondered where I got to since we left for the meet together. So off to the show we go ,found some spots and off to regester. When I get there the kind lady behind the table says this year she had put a plaque away for me since I am always late and she had heard about Shawn(Molton)giving me his from last year.Met the rest of the guys there that were able to go today,T.J.& Al rode there bikes.Tons of cars in a beautiful park setting,There were cars on the grass,on the streets, and all around the town hall which made for a old time feeling, which was approate since we were there to celibrate Canadas 146th birthday.Everyone gathered along the street to watch the parade.I wonder if any other towns have parades where people feel free to run out to various floats with there friends ,Have there friends on the floats stop in the middle of the road, excange plesenteries snap a couple of pictures then have everything start up again, this happened twice where we were standing.Highlight of he parade were the vintage fire trucks.Funniest float was a little Nash Metropolitan with a sign on the door that said saving gas.I thought it ment because of the size of the car but as it passed I noticed there were to little kids behind it pretendind to be pushing it,at least I think they were pretending, good thing the route was mostly down Port Hopes famous hills. When I left the family to check on what the guys were up to I noticed a crowd around where we were parked .I thought oh oh wonder if that hose let go again but when I got closer I saw it was Fatstax's car in the middle of the road. There was a guy taking pictures and  I saw Fatstax strutting around all proud like answering questions about the Buick.Well after that there was no talking to him, famous again, look for it in an upcoming Old Autos.Oh ya you might be able to see my car as well, it will be right behind some guy in a giant pink flamingo costume that his wife made for the parade and thought would be cute for him to ware.I hope it was worth it buddy.Off to the kids games with the grand kids and a tour around to see any new arrivals. There was an outstanding black 58 Chev pickup with an awsome tube grill and a nice blue late 20s early 30s Chev 2dr sedan both from Oshawa I think, that were my faves this year.Another good day with family and friends .Happy Birthday Canada.  Ed
