I passed this 1980 Chevette today and did a quick u turn to check it out. This "car" is in near mint condition. The only flaw I could find was the colour fading on the interior door panels and some swirls in what looks like the original paint. Nice little 4 speed. Interior and exterior are awesome. I didn't check underneath because the price posted on it was $6995 and I wouldn't pay that even with a nice underneath. I think it only had 29000 miles on it. Super example of a poorman's car back in the day. My sister bought a new one and I used to drive it but I forget what it was like.
I have long had this theory that those cars will be desirable one day. Not by me...but by some. LOL I had one that I was going to roll into the barn and save but I built a derby car with it...
When my sister bought hers from North York chev Olds, I think it was about $8K or $9K but my memory isnt that great. I remember I had bought a truck from there and the sales guy said I'll give you $100 for anyone you send my way. So after my sister bought, he refused to pay saying he never said that. The bastard,,,,,, I never went back. To this day I have a bad taste in my mouth from that place because of him.
Those little Chevettes were pretty economical on fuel, and not too complicated to work on either. Just my opinion, but pretty STEEP price, but hey,, ya gotta start somewere, ya just never know who will come looking.
Friend of mine had the pontiac version, think it was an Acadian??, anyway it had the little diesel, SUPER on fuel!! Think he had close to 500K on it when he scrapped it.
I worked in a Pontiac/Buick dealership for three years and the only time you ever saw one of these in the shop was for an oil change! Now the Fiero on the other hand was another story!!!

A friend of mine had one of those when we were 16. We couldn't kill that thing and I have a bunch of memories borrowing from him to take out girls. Had I read Steve Magnantes articles in hot rod about stuffing a caddy motor in one, things would have different.
