Well as we were discussing at the hogtown meet...The yellow door I was working on there was off a Neon and you wondered if overlapping the patch as opposed to butt welding the patch would show a raised area. The car is a 2003 and I paid $350 for it with a wrecked front end. I said it wasn't worth butt welding it and that it was such thin metal as opposed to the old cars. I said I would sent you pics so here there are. I'm not trying to start a build thread or anything just answering the question with pics.
here it is tack welded and hung. Those are the hogtown patches I was working on. they fit better than I thought.
here's the angle I believe you were concerned about being too high/built up.
Here it is painted.
I don't think you can tell and the overlap weld was a success!
The funny thing is that this is going to be my wife's commuter car. She said since we have had it , she has been noticing a lot of yellow Neon's.....she said make it different!! No problem dear!
LOL

That repair looks fine. As for the eye catching paint job?... I hope she's not a speeder! Pretty tough to fly under the radar with this one! Watch out for the "Po Po"!!!

Would have loved to have heard the first words she spoke when she saw it .Nice job looks good and presentable for a commuter.Question though how does she handle the tuners gunning ther motors at the lights? Ed
Thanks for the positive comments. She loved it when she saw it and since when we were dating I had a flamed 93 cavalier.....it wasn't as big a shock for her. No cut and buff cause she works at a department store and It won't be long before the shopping carts start hitting it!!

Thanks Grumps. Once you get settled in, Ben and I will have to get over to check out the shop and do some bench racing. Your welcome over my way if you need a brake from the reno stuff. Hope the Mrs is doing well. Oh ya ...did ya notice the lack of "gravel Guard"!!!!! LOL

We used to call it GRAVEL GUARD and it was always free
Because you only had to finish bodywork to 100 grit
Saved a ton of time
Now they call it BOX LINER and charge a mint for it lol
