I think we will have to exchange info and post why we were talking to the Police Officer and By-Law Officer. I think the members here would like to hear what actually happened at Autofest.

Was this when the police officer was trying to get the by-law officer to leave the grounds because the by-law officer wanted to fine the vendors for not having permits??

That picture was taken just before the Police officer spoke privately to the By-Law officer. I don't know what was said, but I did see the By-Law Officer leave shortly after. What you say would make sense. I think the Police Officer was also a bit shocked that they would dare fine the vendors for no license.
Over on the Cdn. Poncho site ,their saying that when it was almost over the cops or parking enforcement arrived,& were issuing tickets to the show cars on the street, in line for awards??? Anyone see this????

The real story is that on Saturday, one By-law Officer was threatening to ticket the vehicles that were parked waiting on the road to get their trophies. He claimed that although Autofest was on, the road that ran through it was still deemed an open road. The By-law officer on Sunday(different person but still a f-king knob) had enough sense to see that the road was manned on both ends to restrict entry, so he deemed it as a closed road.

Nobody has mentioned that the MOE were around on the weekend too, outside the event at some point during the weekend and they got someone.
just today i heard a rumor that three moe vehicles were on simcoe st on sat.
cant be any truth to it tho as the moe claims they dont target vintage vehicles.
i didnt hear they got someone. wonder what year the vehicle was.
so the moe was in town, the bylaw thugs attempted to ticket show cars waiting in line to get their trophies, and they also attempted to ticket vendors for not having permits at the event. almost sounds like autofest is no longer welcome in oshawa.
Here we go again" the sky is falling, someone said the MOE was in town" In the past 2 years there hasn't been a verified case by anyone on this site that have actually been fined for anything other then their own stupidy, IMO if you pull the cats off your 77 Camaro and get caught, too bad, you deserved it.
I was trying to leave the set up on Friday midday, and one of the staff stopped me in the yellow chevelle, and instructed me to turn back and head out the back way because MOE was handing out tickets on simcoe. I turned around and have no clue if they got anyone. All we want to do is have a nice, uninterrupted weekend of nice cars and great people. Why doesn't the law turn their heads the other way for one weekend. Everyone drove very safely during entry and exit, we do have respect for the law and the people around. I miss the days when the police would turn a blind eye for the hot rods laying down a small patch while leaving the shows. But they were there in case someone drive like a goon. Just my 2 cents.

So let me get this right oldkoot, according to you, if someone on this site hasn't been charged by the MOE then it never happens then? Second time you have personally attacked me on this forum now and i've had enough. I've done my part to try and help keep our hobby alive and i'm at the point where i'm really tired of the fight and i sure as hell don't need to be criticized on here too.

The municipality needs to be involved/included, in some financial aspect, even though most of the funds go to charity. If they are not involved, by-law. law enforcement have there usual guidelines to follow, unless otherwise instructed. These guys have a job to do, and if they are not instructed to be lenient by their pears, they will likely go for the prey.
We keep the township involved when we do Moparfest, we pay for Police doing traffic etc...and sell as a "Charity Fund Raiser" which is also profitable for community businesses.
I haven't heard of any Hot Rods meaning say pre 70 cars or trucks getting stopped.I have heard of lots of late 70s and 80s trucks and80s to 90s Chevys ,Pontiacs etc getting stopped in the past .I think the only one I have heard of lately is DaveM's friend.MOE used to sit out front of my shop a couple of time a week busting trucks,I never saw them pull in a muscle type car of any kind or year.I haven't even seen the suburban this year so far.So when you ask if it happens I am sure it does cause these guys have jobs to justify. Are they targeting vintage cars,I have no proof to say yes. There are lots of a friend of a friends cousin stuff and it seems that after every big show rumours run rampen't.Sorry to say I don't belive rumours,I have seen too many people and business hurt by rumours. So I have to say show me the actual proof of a 57Chevy or Duce Coupe out minding there own business getting busted by the MOE and I will belive, however hearsay is just that.
