Need help identifying.

I'm not sure what forum this belongs under, but...I need help.

I picked up an old "MERCURY" battery charger/tester on my way back from Syracuse last weekend, I took it apart today to restore it, but I can't find any dates what-so-ever. I took a bunch of pics, as I always do, before I start tearing down, as sometimes projects sit for a few weeks before I get a chance to get back to them.

I can guess it's 1940's to maybe early 1960's, due to the insulation on the electrical wires, but that's my best guess, I would like to narrow it down somewhat, there is patent numbers on everything but no dates.

I Google searched a bit, but nothing near it. Here's a few pics of the beast...

man that looks so dangerous, I think you should put it in the bath tub and plug it in, turn on the shower and jump in, might be electrifying!

It's kind of follows the same safety standards as that drill press you had. The good part is, at least this one, the power cord as been cut off, so you can't plug it in.

Same here, never saw one like it, kinda why I grabbed it. A quick sand blast, a coat of paint and straighten and polish the stainless trim, it'll be a nice addition to the antique service station collection.
