1949 Chevrolet 3100 from Colorado

The 1949 from Colorado seem to have a high altitude, attitude...confuse   We cleaned the gas tank  added fresh fuel   We changed plugs, wires, and cap and rotor, and coil (6V)

The truck will run very rough, and a little better if vaccum line pulled off...    

The carb is a Carter YF 2100S   We cleaned it and made sure float wasn't stuck  

so   Andrew (owner) thinks the carb may be a special high altitude carb made for Colorado??  

 I Googled and can't find any info on special carbs    Would it be jetted differently     Bill at  Bills truck shop has a used Rochester  July 17 2013 005.jpg

rochester will run slightly rich on a 216  they are for a 235 .They love to randomly puke gas for no apearent reson  I have one sitting here if you want it that I pulled and replaced it with a carter. here is a list of single barrel carbs post # 6

could be air leak on intake or wipper motor hose open?

Have you tried hooking a vacumn gauge to it?

A vacumn gauge in the hands of an experienced mechanic, could show up a great number of problems , one of the valued tools of mechanics from years back, but never see them much now.
The mechanic had to have a bunch of experience with them, know his stuff,and could tell a great deal about an engine, just by observing that needles movements.

Funny you say that  

My good young friend,(who owns truck)  has two mechanics working for him...  

One is the best diesel guy I have ever seen...   and he works his magic with a Lap top     confuseconfuseconfuseconfusedisbeliefdisbeliefdisbeliefdisbeliefdisbelief
