Good work. Would love to come round some time and see it.
Your welcome to come over and check it out. Next weekend there will be a pretty cool Camaro here but we won't have much time to talk on Saturday, as it is only here for a weekend. But Sunday afternoon I would have more show and tell time.

Oldguy always wants to know what's happening in the shop. LOL
69ss454 has posted and reminded me of every time I posted "it will get done" LOL
And.......most recently Grumps has had to give me the motivational speech about Chirping birds or something like that!! LOL
He kept moving his hand like a bird chirping when I started telling him why it wasn't done!!?? LOL or something like that.
Here's the car in question.
This project has been going on (or not going on) for the last twenty years. It's so old now I think I should call it a "project Barn Find" to hide my embarrassment. The paint was started in 1992 and colour was put on in 2004ish. Already an old paint job and it has never seen the streets. It's been pushed into this bay and then back into that bay so many times it would have been better off parked in a shopping mall!!LOL
So those first shots are the car of course.....
and here is the puzzle pieces....
The progress that was made this week was done by my apprentice(Ben) on the sandblaster and myself on the paint gun.
And this pic has something in it for Hemi43 to comment about.....The project is so old that I had purchased lacquer paint to do the interior. This in my opinion is a great way to reproduce the finish of an original 60's dash and interior metal pieces. Can't buy it now but I sprayed some today!! Remember Lucite???? LOL
Well that's it for now and someone elses project is coming back for the next weekend so my car goes on hold again ...but not for long!

A truck load of Camaro front end was delivered though.
Car comes tomorrow.
But I did get to play a bit in the shop. Got to do my happy dance too!! A Buddy at work is a volunteer Fireman for the Cainsville dept. He does fireman competition events and wanted his training fire helmet painted to "be different". I like that but time was very limited in the spring while my wife was travelling for work. But I got it from him today and he needs it back tomorrow so it was get done work , unload Camaro parts and start airbrushing!! I am not worthy to call myself an "airbrush artist " yet and I know their are some amazing artist on this forum but this is, I guess, just something I mess with every blue moon. I have only tried "real fire" twice now, this being the second. I did my happy dance once the clear was on!! I know he will be happy too when he gets this back. If he likes it, I will ask for a $10.00 China king lunch!!LOL I still have a long ways to go but it sure is fun.
The flash and shop lights didn't help but here it is...

I painted my Roadrunner with lucite in the 80's. Stuff would chip like a bastard !!!
Remember 810R zinc chromate primer ?? I just sprayed some this morning from a can that was at least 15 years old. It was as good as the day it was made. Pics to follow next week.

Nothing like the good old stuff!!! For lacquer all you need is a dust mask!!! LOL ........not really but it doesn't have that hardener in it that is posion...Starts with an I and I can't spell it!!

I hope you can put those parts to good use one day. Regards :)

One of the things that stopped progress was the steering box many moons ago. One of the biggest differences between a 66 and a 67 Nova is the steering column and at the time I didn't realize how much different. The plan was to put in a 67 SS interior with the console and the column but the 67 wouldn't work because it is a collapsible column that requires a different mounting brackets and I would have had to cut up the dash. All that to basically say that I cleaned my "new" used 66 steering box(different than the 67 I already have installed) last night and it is almost ready to paint. So I did work on the car!! LOL for those who are keeping score!!

Slow.....SLOW????? Kurt he's had the car for 20 years!!!!!!
I have gone through 3 wives in that time........!!!!!!
Kurt and Glenn......The tag team champions of the "WTF...ORC"
Officialy known as the "Old Farts with Good Hearts"
Tag me off Kurt..... when you get through Pile Driving Rich......
I'll put him in the "Cobra Klutch"......and HE WILL FINISH THIS CAR!
Then a flurry to the solar plex's...a 1-2 combination.....and he'll be out for the count!
and THATS why they call us the "Champ"
just sayin
Wow....am I old
Brothers from another Mother....didn't you say Glen??!!
Thanks Again Kurt for the parts. If it doesn't take 20yrs to finish my sedan They will be in it(or the wagon if the current trans is seized from sitting too long!
At least this thread will take some of the heat /attention off the guys who posted in the "distraction thread" Seems like I'm not the only one out there with cars sitting not getting done.

I can barley operate a needle and thread .......I'll have to teach someone else how to take pics while I'm working. lol
Most likely just be more of a before....and after thread.
Well.....
I fixed a rack and pinion rusted out line on one of the kids car. That probably doesn't count right??
I have the steering box painted but noticed that the threaded end at the steering wheel end is bent. Probably from the steering wheel puller. I am looking into that but haven't found the nut for the steering wheel yet. Might have to make a stainless one at work. Also sorted out boxes of parts into piles of "ready to install" and Not ready to install" and trying to remember how they fit (or where) on the car. I wasn't planning on using the original steering wheel so I started cleaning and inspecting the old one. I cleaned up 30 plus years of yuck off the center chrome trim piece for the steering wheel and as of yet haven't found the horn button(hope it not the one I sold last year). Not that I'm looking for anyone to take it easy on me but......all this was done while entertaining a not quite 5 yr old in the shop while "wifey" was working nights. I didn't want to post one pic at a time and turn this into a facebook deal. so I will get a few in the camera and load them up at once.

After Being on Holidays for two weekends and the week between them, I had an engine light come on in one car (replaced the coil hoping that fixed it) a van I am trying to sell that just doesn't want to pass E-test yet, and a broken mower deck!! I think Glen calls that excuses or "BLAH BLAH BLAH" But I did manage to get some parts cleaned up and a picture taken for some evidence. I painted the hood emblem with some left overs that seemed to work out Ok and the wiring cleaned up but I have to really go through it cause there is some broken and exposed wires.
The steering box is there that I mentioned before and the steering wheel is cleanup and ready for prepping for primer then some black base clear. Most of the chrome is driver quality I am finding, but that's what I'm hoping to do...drive it!
Hoping to get a full day in Monday Cause Linda is off and she can watch the young'n.

Put a few hours in on the wagon today. Wanted to put the steering box in today but just couldn't find everything I needed to do the job. So...I got out the assembly manuals and turned to page one! This reduced the pile of parts.
Spent a lot of time looking for stuff(mainly screws) and also had to clean and paint some stuff before I could move on!! But progress was made and I;m not on page one anymore!
Looks like a mess but I'm getting through it all. The next two big things will be the heater box and the controls as well as the brake pedal assembly.
Might be a bit hard to see but the wiper linkages and motor/pump are installed along with the washer bottle and plumbing. Missing one of the squirters though???
Defroster ducks and firewall heat/sound deadener installed.
Hey Grumps....here's the next one ... you'll be cracking the whip for a while!
