Hope to see it at the bash this Aug ! Beautiful car.

Well the headliner won the first round in the battle to install the stupid thing!!  I asked questions and watched video's and read forums and everyone was say'n basically the same general ideas for installation.  But let me list off a few of the problems:

1. The car is not a hardtop or even a sedan.  It does not have sail panels so determining what is the front what is the back is not an easy thing on a wagon.  Both ends look the same when rolled out.  I think I figured it out due to the one bow that isn't clipped into the holes but is locked to the roof with clips or rather sharp metal barbs.  Two of the bows are closer together on each side of this nonadjustable rod.  Like I said though....I think I figured this out. LOL

2.  After putting the headliner into the car and all rods in the respective marked out holes, the next move was to give a tug on it from the windshield center and set the bows/take out the slack. (no glue yet luckily)  But none of the video's or forums said anything about the bows rolling over and flopping down or drooping in the center!!!  Trying the back center I did not have this problem and it looks like I could move on to the next step.  But the front after several attempts just didn't want to work.  It almost looks like the headliner sections are sown to far apart?? LOL  I don't know. 

3.  I also thought after looking things over that I was missing some tack strips(for the lack of a better word) for along the cargo area roof lines.  This after taking down all parts off my racking and searching was proven no so, by finding a thread on the Nova forum saying there were none there. 

So after all this I have a headliner in my car with the bows in place but not stretched or glued.  I pushed the car out.(battery died again) and let the heat from the sun warm it up to help straighten the folds etc.

I did manage to get some other stuff done which the pictures will show as well as some sandblasting and painting of parts I will need shortly.  This headliner set back will probably mean I will be riding with Ben on the June 20th cruise but that isn't really a bad thing.

Thanks !  I really like it as well.  Kinda like a throw back to the past and well nothing against "cowl " hoods ( I love cowl hoods as well)  but everyone has one now!  But all that being said, I bought the scoop for the 67 Sedan but Ben and I had to see what it looked like on a car.   

I have been saying it for way too long but I really want to drive this thing and will have to get it to Sparta for a run against Ben!!

Pretty major set back tonight I'm afraid.  What I figured were going to be the last pieces to sandblast and paint were hiding a very disappointing surprise.  The passenger seat bucket had three metal pieces to be removed.  Upon removing the large seat back, I found a big mouse nest with three dead mice and lots of piss and crap which soaked into the seat foam etc.  The funds aren't there right now to fix it the way it should be fixed and removing 50 year old vinyl isn't likely to work and still be able to put it back on.  So it looks like I will see if Ben will sell me his racing buckets for now and try to fix the seats later along with the greasy carb.  Here's a couple more pictures from the weekend.

Cut the hood, did the install, liked the look ... then found out I HATED having to look around it/having it block my vision.  I couldn't believe how quickly I learned to hate that scoop, and I couldn't remove it as I had already cut the hood  (unless I found/painted/replaced it with a different hood).  My last GM musclecar I (just like the masses ) installed a cowl scoop on a glass hood.  Gave me extra clearance and allowed a ton of hot air to escape the engine compartment.  Just saying

No argument from me on that one!!  Then next one I build will be more for a certain "look" and some straight line fun.   So Hopefully the view will not be a big factor.  But ...  maybe I will paint up the stock steel one to match just in case!

Well the headliner is in and well it is done. It is not bad. But definitely not great. I figured that the money isn't there to pay a pro and the headliner has been sitting in a box for twenty years so what do I have to loose?? It will do for now. LOL

I did put aftermarket seals in the vent windows and they fit not bad. But at the top the seal it is a bunch shorter and I hope it doesn't show after install.

I took a drive down Rockton way to Antique Chevrolet after work today To see if they had some of the missing parts I needed. I new shipping was going to be a big factor if I ordered the stuff from the US as well as the dropping CAN dollar. I was more than happy to find that they had everything I was looking for and it didn't break the bank!

So a couple thumbs up for Antique Chevrolet from me today!

Thanks Kurt. If this car does anything this year, it has to race Ben's Camaro!! It might be the only chance I get to beat him. lol I won't give away his plans....but his car might be a tad bit faster next year!

Nice ! Soon you will be cruisin' to Tim's in Delhi for a meet?   Car looks great Rich, it will be so cool when done.I keep looking at Nova wagons now.  LOL  

I really find myself wondering what ever processed me to build a wagon??  There is so many more parts to deal with on the inside of this thing!  I pulled the cargo area interior pieces out of the box and tried to figure it out and it looks like more gluing and well I just don't really know what else.  Luckily I did find the old pieces that might give me a bit of a pattern. 

2 1/2 hours in the shop flew by and while most of it was trying to figure out things, I did get a few things done. 

It is the same old routine...find a part, sand blast the bolts/hardware then paint and install.  The cowl seal didn't come with the holes cut out for the clips and was almost permanently stuck in a coil. LOL 

Here's some pics.  The road is shorter than it was but still longer than I would like it to be.
