I had an experience last Thursday that I would like to share while travelling to Timmins for a family reunion. We were staying at a camp ground so I was towing my camper and loaded to the gunnels. We decided to get a motel in North Bay and take our time to see some sights. When I pulled in the motel parking lot, I could smell a strong sulfur type odor. Thought it was the air in the area. Went in to register and then went to move my truck and all I heard was "click". OMG, here we are in North Bay at 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon before a long weekend. Now try and get some service. I called CAA to give me a boost, which they did (now getting past 5:00). Who would be open???? Managed to find a small garage called Allmakes Auto Service and told them of my dilemma. Man, I could not believe the service they provided. Brad Martin (the owner) informed me that he would have a look, gave me a courtesy car so I could get back to my motel, and he would call me when he found out what was wrong.
About an hour later, my cell rang and it was Brad informing me that my truck was ready. When I showed up, The mechanic informed me that my battery was fried. (the sulfur odor) They checked out my charging system; everything was ok, and they only replaced my battery. For this they only charged me $20.00 and the cost of the battery. This could have been a stressful situation.
I take my hat off to Brad and the guys at Allmakes for looking after a stranger in trouble after hours, providing a courtesy car and not hosing me for the repair.
Interesting posting BAJ,,, a lot here probably think i,m bull sh**ing, but that is common the farther north you go, sure there are exceptions, but in general folks get treated quite well.
Cool story...BAJ, just so you know for next time, there is a nice little campground in North Bay, at the west part of Lakeshore on Premiere Dr....Champlain Campground.....Nice place and $33/night

Very true Ray. I think because we are for the most part smaller community/resources......we tend to go the extra mile. And hope that good karma follows.

Too often we hear negative stories...good to hear positive ones.
Last month when I was on my Cape Breton and Moncton trip in the 58, I boosted a Harley while waiting for a boat to pass at the Canso Causeway, then a day later I helped a fellow gearhead with a coolant leak while waiting to get parked at the downtown Moncton event. Hopefully all this good-will makes its way 'round.

a coupe of years ago i came upon a fellow in a 69 camero with a wheel that had almost come off his car, a case of loose nuts i assume. he had cragars on the car. wouldnt you know i had some of those shank style nuts in my truck, who knows why i had them and i cant even recall where they came from but i handed him them and saved his day. even odder is the fact i was going down a road i never happen to often travel so i dont know if its fate or karma, perhaps it will be returned to me someday. i see no problem with being a pack rat
I performed the Hiemlick on a beautiful, tall, top heavy blond, choking on a cracker at work back in July. Got a nice write up from the Director of Maintenance too. It was my pleasure.......

a month ago I was driving down a street and said to the wife "look a wallet, oh a cop wallet" which I spotted from 200'
I stopped, dodged destiny's attempt at death while grabbing flying credit cards, a wallet and a passport.
got to the car inspected cards looking for a name or address and dropped the wallet.
it flopped open and theres was the badge. CBSA ..... I promptly picked it up held it to my wife and said "excuse me could lift your top, official business" :D
I drove to the local Canada customs, and turned it in. The cute girl took my name and number. The guys on duty almost pissed themselves when I recounted the "liftyour top" story and the cutie gave me the stink eye.
Still waiting for a phone call.............
OH well I know I did good......
