Unless it rains, I'll be there on Friday for a visit.
A bad day at the Flea Market is better than a good day at work!

yep what he said..Barrie sucks there are so many better places to spend a day these days and times especially if your looking to buy auto related stuff..Most of the $hit at Barrie is the same stuff that was there 20 years ago..

Have fun goin Fatstax....I quit 10 years ago......will never go back!

anybody can have my parking spot...

you guys sure we talking about the same flea market?  i always make more than i spend at barrie and have a great time.  i have also bought some of the coolest stuff ever at barrie.  money is not a problem for me so i cant relate to some people who think 5 bucks for parking is over the top.

Sorry stax...dont need any smashed snowmobile or bent bike parts...my wife doesnt like doillies.....and the guys up front have been cartin the same crap there for 25 years

I had 3 prime spots with hydro...had to make $700 just to pay for the spot...let alone beer and beer and beer and food for the week.

Years ago prices were good and parts were plentifull.....but it costs sooooo much now....there is NO DEALS and rarely do you see fresh parts

and to listen to Hanney ....blah, blah, blah in the morning started my day off all wrong

I'll throw parts in the crusher before I'll pay Hanney to sell them

just sayin

A bad day at the Flea Market is better than a good day at work!

Not to me.. I like my day at work much more than I would want to WASTE a good day at Haneys WAY WAY over rated dumpster..Save your money for Waterdown, Ancaster, London, Lindsay, and a dozen other decent Car related Swap-meets..that happen right here in good old Ont.. Not much but junk, fish, "t-shirts" Lawn ornaments, fencing, watches, and other assorted chit that never sold on KIjiji gets dragged to Barrie...it has been a waste of time for 10 years..unless you just don't have a real life..biggrin

I guess i don't have a life because I will be there Friday if the weather is good. I don't give a crap about car parts or socks, but always find some small treasure to bring home.

If it's not raining...

By the way, we know the event has slipped the last 5 years but it is what it is! A day out for a walk amongst a bunch of tools, car parts...... and other unmentionables. A beer or two just rounds out the day, even if you come home empty handed there's always something the laught at. It's even a bit sad seeing those guys slug that crap to the Hainey Show from year to year. I usually come home with something. Last spring I found a set of original rubber cone bumpers, still in the GM issue box for my '57 Caddy Dagmars as well as a set of original stainless steel window trim for my truck for $20!

I do think it's funny that some people on this forum have such a hatred for Hainey.

Just don't go, don't support him and please don't bitch at me if I want to go!

I'll yell at you Fatstax since I'll be there with my feet up and a cold one in my hand relaxing.Gold field row G 4 and 5. I figured renting a vending spot is better than a camping spot any day. I always find something to bring home....a $10.00 tie rod got me a C-note on Ebay. Any one looking for an old 6-71 blower off of a Detroit diesel? Back glass out of a 60 Caddy 2 door hardtop? I have a ton of parts I need to get rid of....

I think last l time I went I only spent about $50 but still had a good time. I usually go with a few friends, bring my wagon to hold our cooler which is full of beer and walk the aisles. What better way to spend the day !!

Hey Dan; Save a cold one for me. You still owe me one from Syracuse. We'll be camping there again and I'll be selling some sh** with a couple of friends. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. If I don't see you our camper is back behind the caboose E7, and I'll be driving Bukshott.

Sounds like a plan !! I'll be driving the Dodge up and parking in the preferred lot by the entrance. I hope I see you by 10 am or we'll be out of beer. LOL

Are people really still going to this event? I wanted to go for many years and never seemed to be able to make it happen - then 7 or 8 years ago everyone was saying how bad it was getting. Seems to be many more 'nay-ers' then 'yay-ers'....

One thing I'd better mention is that I'm only going on Friday. Atomsplitter will be going too.

Skipped this event for 5 years or so for reasons already mentioned. I need a few things so I might just give it a revisit. If its as bad as 5 years ago, that's it I'm done.
Save me a couple of beers...see ya in the beer tent.

I've always been able to find something I absolutly had to have. It's always a good weekend entertainment. If you waste time looking at the underwear and socks tents you miss the auto related vendors, and there are still lots of them.
Dan; you pick a time for the beer tent.

Not really interested in meeting Hanney. Hearing him over the loud speakers is enough for me, and I understand why everyone is bitching about him. You really should choose your friends a bit more wisely!!

We started at Molson Park the third last year they had it there and even had a few wet whiskey barrels with me also one year. Remember them? Finished last year at Barrie and even said good bye to Don and shook his hand. I know he will not miss us but he will miss the money. Not even going this year to look around for all the ground to cover for what you see. Besides I can't get my Gater in. We switched to Lindsay even though it is a smaller swap meet than Barrie it probably has more automotive related stuff. If I made a mistake on the move I am sure I can get back in Barrie. I made the move early for a good spot seeing they had sold well over 400 spots at Lindsay the first year. I would think it will be full next year because the crowd is already there. But I do have to say Barrie was good to me for many years but over time Barrie has changed.

We've been going for roughly 20 years , when all it was, was a few vendors and a whole pile of mud. But after this past spring show, we vowed to never go back. What used to take a good solid day or two, to walk the grounds took us half a day while dealing with our screaming 14 month old baby.

The park was empty and way too many drunks. I've said it before, the level of intoxication that some of these vendors get to should not be tolerated. One drunk ******* almost lost his teeth after marking a rude sexual comment towards my wife who was pushing our daughter in her stroller. If it wouldn't have been for his buddy pushing him away and for my daughter being there, he would have been picking his teeth out of the dirt. Never again will we attend this flea market.

I know some of you don't like this event, but for those who do, what is the best day to go ( assuming the weather is good)? Are all the vendors there on Thursday or do some just come on Friday?

Thanks

thursday is a vendor setup day kinda, gates are open but not all vendors are there as some come in the pm on thursday for friday morn.  sunday is actually a good day since most people dont want to drag stuff home, good deals

I used to deal there for 15 years got in Wednesday set up Thursday. Sold best Thursday Friday early Saturday headed home Sunday morning. Never sold anything Sunday for over 5 years to many people out sight seeing or low balling. Thats when I started leaving Sunday morning. Going over to the track was a given every Saturday night. It was a 6-7 hour drive home and had to work at 7am Monday morning. Any of you guys remember the year of the drinking and driving road block out side the main RD. I didn't get out of the park till 6:30 that Sunday almost totaled my truck falling asleep at the wheel on HWY 7 between Arden and Perth no Timmies back those days.

We went today. Did the whole place. Came home almost empty handed. The item I wanted, I left till the end to grab it on the way out. It was $170. I offered $150 and got a "No". They wouldn't budge so I passed on it.

When I got home, I realized I had lost my iphone,,,,,,,,,not the best of days.

i was always told friday was the day to go. not saying you wont find anything thurs but was told that most vendors are either just setting up or havent even arrived on thurs. best is either fri before its all picked over or sun to take advantage of the vendors hangovers or the possibility that theyd rather sell than cart it home. to be honest tho ive never been on a thurs just repeating what ive been told.
