Required polution devices and the MOE

sticky subject.

the moe will only tell you that you must have everything that engine had when it was in the car it was originally installed in. technically speaking if the engine came with an enclosed air filter and a temp controlled flap at the end of the snorkel, or a heat riser valve in the exhaust with those being emission related items they would still need to be installed and functioning. i have heard the moe really just wants to see a pcv on one valve cover and a hose from the other valve cover to the air filter housing on an engine that old but i have no idea if that is actually true.

some gm engines from that era came with an a.i.r. pump. been told if the engine came with a std trans it would also have an a.i.r. pump. i have seen old magazine pics of a roadtest on a brand new 69 z28 with dealer installed headers with the a.i.r. pump plumbed into the headers.

I would like to know what polution equipment is required on a streetrod with a 1969 Chevy 327 motor to meet Ontario MOE requirements? I want it to be 100% legal. What type of polution equipment did the motor have originally?

Run the pcv it will cut down on oil leaks and wont hurt anything. If your worryed about the MOE call them up ask them what you need and tell them you are recording the conversation for your own personal referance, Save the tape. no sense to worry bout drownin if yer born to hang!

PCV, and no open breather. You must have a breather with a hose going into your air cleaner.
