while at antique show today .found this show down dragrace slotcar set...you had to go through the gears down the track... memory serves me right they were given away by dealerships back in the day..very rare
I did a service call for a customer a couple of months ago and we got talking cars and racing an stuff and he said check out what I have in the basement. So I figured that this was going to be cool or else I was going to end up in the freezer.I figured he was going to show me a train layout as there are lots of them in this area.I was really surprized to see a huge(Full basement )slot car layout. He had built scale replicas of a Nascar track, some F1 track and a drag strip. There were pits and stands and a starting tree for the drags. There were replicas of famous stock cars and open wheel cars including sprints. He said that slots had progressed to the point that the cars had to make pitstops for gas and the equivilant tire ware times.all this stuff is of course computer controlled now.I remember when the crossover track was a big deal as was the lap counter and the old style starting tree on my old Eldon drag race set.I still have lots of old slot cars and race sets.Humm since we don't have a basement if I move the chesterfield and the coffee table I could set up the Daytona set.The drag cars could go down the hallway, who wouldn't love a slot car track in the living room.Oh ya now I remember----.
