My 50 ford F47 was a floor shift. I still have the tranny but I have no idea of its condition, I would not call it "good"...hasn't been used since likely the early 80's.
I don't want to highjack this thread but the answer may help to find the right transmission.
I'm under the impression that a "toploader" transmission refers to the design of the transmission that allows you to take the gears and shafts out of the top of the transmission rather than from the side of the transmission through the shifter housing.

Mine is a 1950 F-47 3 speed toploader (means shift rod is on the top),the side shift or column shift started in 1951
I'm looking for a good toploader as I already have a bad one.if anyone has a good one email me your phone number at rifraf@bell.net and thanks to all for input ,my arm is getting tired holding it in second gear. rifraf.
Thanks Kent
I talked to Carl and I'm going to his place in two weeks to pick up a transmission, and thanks for the web site , I still think I will take a transmission to Macs Van Pelts in Ohio for rebuild on a cold weekday sometime after Christmas.
